Ebony

   "Thanks again Khalib" I said before taking a bite into my chicken sandwich.

After going around looking at apartments practically all day we decided to stop and get a late lunch,well more like go to a restaurant and me be the only one to actually eat.

He smiled showing his gold grills damn near blinding me,"no problem baby I got you"

Lord if I was a few shades lighter I would be the color of a cherry.

I cleared my throat,"why aren't you eating?" we've been walking out in this hot weather all day he had to be hungry.

"I'm fine with my water" he held up the glass before taking a couple of gulps.

It was silent for awhile before he spoke.

"Tell me about yourself ebony" he leaned back throwing his tatted arm over the back of the seat.

"I'm a bit of a plain Jane,I have two brothers and three sisters including Monica,I grew up in the south I'm a book worm I've always been the quiet type other than Monica I never really had any friends I'm a little antisocial"

"yea I feel you but only the antisocial part I like to stay more to myself"

"so you don't have any siblings?"I took a sip of my raspberry tea.

He shook his head "na well not by blood but I tend to think of Kain more as my brother than my cousin and I favor his sister as my sister also"

I smiled he was just too cute,before I could reply the waiter came up and sat the check on the table with a few chocolate mints

He gave a friendly smile before walking off,I reached for the check and as my hand went to grab it I noticed it wasn't there looking up I see Khalib placing a twenty inside of the black folder.

"Khalib I can pay,you only had a water" I didn't feel comfortable with him paying for my food not only did I like being independent but he only got a water he shouldn't have to pay.

He shook his head and motioned for the waiter to come over with a hand signal.

"I had a bag of chips too" he held up the bag of unopened chips.

I chuckled letting it go he was a little stubborn.

     After dropping ebony off I made my way to my moms crib to check up on her.

"Mom" I yelled walking in dropping my keys on the table by the entrance.

"I'm in the living room and make sure you take off your shoes"

I sighed and kicked my feet out of my sneakers and placed them neatly beside the door.

She was sitting on the couch balled up in a big blanket watching a movie.

I took a seat beside her and she paused the movie looking over at me with a smile adoring her face.

"I missed you little boy"

I smiled and kissed her cheek I love this lady with all my heart and she comes before any and everyone.

"I missed you too moms"

"I talked to Monica today she told me that you took her cousin to look at some apartments,how did everything go?" she gave me a smile,but not a normal smile.

"what are you and Monica up to?"

"nothing! what makes you think we're up to something?!"

I knew those two and they were always up to no good.

"yea alright,but everything went straight she's a pretty cool girl"

"she's a woman"

I chucked "woman"

"I'm hereeeee" I heard a voice that I knew too well scream.

"Auntie Mel" I yelled holding my arms out and scooping her small frame into my arms.

"aw look at my K baby! what's up lil nigga" we did our signature handshake,my auntie was like my best friend before Mon came along but I still hold a tight bound with my aunt.

"you two make me sick"my mom sucked her teeth as she passed 

"your mama always been hating on us nothing but a hater" I laughed and made my way to the door.

"you haven't been here more than five minutes and you already leaving us" my mom said placing her hand on her hip.

I smiled and gave them both a kiss on their cheek "I love you my beautiful women but my brother needs me so gotta blast"

"aight peace to the Middle East and tell my son to bring my pot back before I whoop his ass with it" aunt Mel shouted after me.
