Ok so first thing I did in my hand study for you guys is make a whole lot of mistakes. So these are some that I did so you DON'T.

This first picture is INCORRECT. Don't use this one XD I wanted to show you this to point out mistakes I did.
- The thumb is way longer than I thought. It should end a little less than 1/3 of the pointer finger length
- the weird oval shaped muscle connected to the thumb is actually longer than the joint. Here's a pic to show what I mean:

This position was super uncomfortable so YOURE WELCOME

This position was super uncomfortable so YOURE WELCOME. Anyways it's the weird oval shape thingy that's longer that the other half of the thumb. Not sure if you get it, but anywho.
-The square segment of the hand is longer than the fingers
Sorry but there's going to be a large paragraph ahead, but it really explains what I figured out during my mini study. Please read it.

Ok so you know that 3D square guideline that people use in order to sketch out hands? I didn't get the purpose of that until now. The main part of your hand without the fingers resembles a rectangle. No matter how you rotate your hand, that square shape will never change. Go ahead, try it. Make your hand into a fist and rotate it around. The overall shape shouldn't change at all. So, this is what I came up with for useful guidelines:

The holes are for where the fingers are. Also don't mind my shirt at the bottom X)

Now onto the more accurate hands. Please note I am no profesional, and my own hands as reference might be off. I don't think my hands are irregular, but just in case, look at your own to compare haha

Notice the differences between the two hand pictures? Oh and btw the circles are where there's a lot of muscle

This is just Part One, in the next part there will be step by step tutorials on how to draw different hand positions (such as peace sign and grabbing items). The next thing I have planned is a facial features section, teaching about noses.
