Chapter 2

At about 5pm, I get a call from Henry.

"Hay, it's me. Do you want to have dinner at my house, tonight." he says.

"Ya, sure. What time?" I ask.

"6 and dress nice."

"Why?"

"You'll see."

He hangs up and I look through my bag looking for something to ware. Nothing. What to do now, oh. Makin also gave me a gift card to anywhere. I took it out of my wallet and saw it had $500 on it. That Makin takes care of everyone. When I get to the place I think is good, I walk in and see so many nice outfits. I ask the clerk if she could help me find a dress for a dinner. She showed me a section that was filled with all kinds of dresses. I picked out a few of my favorite ones, but only one fit. It was strapless, blue like the diamond, and had gloves and shoes that matched. After I bought everything, I felt like something was missing. Jewelry. I look around and see a store that has jewelry in the window. I go up to the front desk and show them the color of the dress. They say they don't have the color, so I look around and see a lot of gold and silver. I see the most beautiful pair of earrings and a bracelet that matched. I also saw that it was on sale, so it was something I had to get, as a gift for coming here. The store was also having a promotion that if you spend $50 or more, you get 75% off you next purchase. I looked at how much the set was and the sales price was $60, so now I can get something else. I look around and see the most adoribal locket. Since I can't ware the blue diamond, I might as well wear something else. I see that it's $100, but with the 75% off, I only had to pay $25. I looked at my phone and saw that it was already 5:30. I had to get ready now. I still don't have anywhere to stay, so I go back to the store that I bought the dress in and asked if I could use their bathroom. I get in there and put my new dress on and fix my hair. I still could use a makeover. When I was about ready, I saw that I only had one glove, where was the other one. I look around and see its not there, so I go without them. I walk out side and see the other glove on the ground. Now I'm all set, well almost. I still needed to get to his house. The only person I could see was the desk clerk.

"Umm, do you know where Henry Arnett lives?" I ask.

"Yes, the end of town. Turn around, you look gorgeous." she said.

"Thanks, he invited me over for dinner tonight, so I needed something nice to ware."

"Well, next time you need another outfit, I can help you find something this beautiful."

I walk out and get in my car and start to drive, but I stop to see tons of car outside Henry's house. I thought this was going to be only the two of us, not the whole town. I put the car in park and see tons of people in formal attire, so I'm not going to stand out too much. I get out and start walking toured his house and stop and think, what am I doing here? I'm going to a party, at a guys house that I met this morning. I was about to turn around and go someplace else, but I see someone running toured me. I look hard and see it's Dan, Henry's older brother.

"Are you Sara Maree?" he asked.

"Yes, why?" I answer.

"My brother has been looking for you, I can take you to him?"

"He has, oh, we'll then yes you can take me to him."

He puts his arm out and I take it, knowing that this might be fun. We get inside and see everyone is looking at us, it even got silent when we walked in. Dan walks me up a flight of stairs and leads me to an open room. There too was a lot of people, and they were also looking at me. What is with people looking at me tonight. I see a table on a stage and see Henry sitting at it. Dan walks me over to the stage and helps me up, then he disperse in the crowd. Henry sees me and leads me to my chair.

"What is all this? I thought it was just going to be you and me." I say.

"I didn't want to tell you this because you might have said no, but this is a ball that I'm throwing. I needed a date-" he starts but I cut him off.

"Wait, this is a date?"

"Kinda, you don't mine, right."

"Oh, it's fine, it's just, I've never gone on a date."

"Well we can fix that. First things first, would you like to dance?"

"Yes, I would love to."

He puts out his hand and I take it, hoping he doesn't criticis my dancing. To my luck, I did amazing. Most of the songs they played were new songs, but you could request a song, so I went up there and asked them to play an old song my dad used to sing to me, My Little Girl. I walk back and they start to play it. By he look on Henry's face, he knew the song too.

"This song is one of my favorite songs from when I was little. My dad would sing it to me when I was sick. Oh, I miss him." I say.

"Did your father die?" he asked.

"Yes, when I was 5. He was driving home from work and a drunk driver hit him and killed him." I answer.

"Oh, I'm vary sorry for your lose. I lost my best friend in a car accident, when we were both 17. He was driving, I was in the passenger seat, I got lucky. I'll never forgive myself for letting it happen, if only I was paying attition, not letting him text while driving."

"It's not your falt, I was blaming myself when my dad died, I was 5. I now know that things happen that you can't control, can't stop." I say trying to hold back the tears.

I close my eyes and lean my head down. Henry puts his fingers under my chin telling me to look up. I look at him with watery eyes and he wipes my eyes. He pulls me closer to him and I just cry in his shoulder.

"It's ok, just cry." he whispers to me.

When I finely stopped crying, after 10 min., he lead me back to the table and we had 'dinner'. We had a nice salad and soup and red velvet cake for dessert. After it was over, they started to play one of his favorite song. He got up and walked over to me and grabbed my hand. He took me by surprise, so I was startled when he pulled me out of my chair and down the steps.

"Where are we going?" I ask.

"To dance, I love this song. Come on." he answered.

He put my hands on his shoulders and his on my waist. I looked at him and he just sang the exact words to it. I rolled my eyes and started laughing. The song ended and I couldn't believe how tired I was, but it was only 9pm. They played a lot more songs, new and old. People left slowly, but at about 9:45, the last person left. I was sitting in my chair when Henry got up to say good bye to the last person, so when he got back, I was sound asleep. Instead of waking me up he picked me up and laid me on the guest bed in the guest bedroom.

"You are special, but in what way, I don't know. I will find out, though, I know that." he whispered.

He thought I was asleep, but really, I was tired and weak. So I hear every word he said, and I felt the small kiss he gave me on the top of my head. I know some of the reason why I'm different then everyone else, I have the other half of the blue diamond.
