Origin Series - Book 1: Chaos in Origin

Prologue

Ten years ago...

There was nothing but the sound of rain falling as two cloaked figures approached the small town of Wehthyr. As they walked towards the centre of the town, a flash of lightning appeared overhead, illuminating the town for a second. The pair approached one of the houses, knocking on the door.

The door was opened by a small child that looks to be about four or five wearing a dark blue dress, her hair was fiery red and came down to her shoulders, her eyes a reddish/brown colour. Standing behind the child is a woman about five foot four, wearing a light green top with brown pants, she has her dark brown hair tied up, and is gazing in shock at the couple with her violet eyes.

"Can I help you?" the woman asks. "Danita? Timshay? What are you doing here?" A man walks up wearing a dark red top with dark green pants and stands behind the woman, he has dark red hair that's spiked in all directions, and his deep blue eyes have a questioning look in them as he looks at the couple. "Garvross, we need to talk." Danita says, taking of the hood of the cloak, revealing her silvery hair and golden eyes.

"Of course, come in." Garvross says, stepping to the side to allow the pair into the house. "What did you need to talk about?" Garvross asks, taking a seat at the dining table and gesturing for them to sit. Danita and Timshay look at each other as they take off their cloaks.

Garvross is about to ask again when he sees a baby in Danita's arms, "This child...?" Garvross begins. "His name is Rendryn," Timshay says, looking at the child with a gentle look in his silver eyes, "we want him to grow up normally, we didn't know who else to turn to." he continues, running a hand through his golden hair.

Garvross looks towards his wife Melody, "Can you put Val to bed?" he asks. Melody goes to reply but, "But I don't want to go to bed dad!" a voice cuts in. Garvross turns to his daughter, "Bedtime, now Valoryn." He says firmly. Val goes to complain but stop's when she sees the look in her dad's eyes. "Alright." She mumbles as grabs Melody's hand and leaves the room.

"And you want me to look after him?" Garvross asks. Danita smiles at the child as she says "We know it's a lot to ask, we've already been to the Flareheart's with his younger brother, even they were surprised." Danita looks towards Garvross and smiles gently as she says, "All we ask is you watch over him for us, we couldn't even figure out what Class he has."

Garvross' eyes widen before he regains his composure and says, "I'll watch over him, don't worry." Danita and Timshay both look at him with a smile, "We know you will." They both say, before Danita hands Rendryn to Garvross. "Also, Ren must not know about his brother until the time is right." Timshay warns.

"Of course." Garvross says as he gently holds the child. Danita looks at the child once more, "Now we must be off, we have many things to prepare. Farewell Garvross, and it was nice to see you again Melody." She says as Melody walks into the room, then she and Timshay both stand and start walking towards the door.

After they have both left Melody walks up to Garvross, "Who were they?" She asks when she's standing behind him. Garvross looks at the child in his arms and says "They were the Dragoon and the Paragon." Melody's eyes widen when he says this, "Then this child?" She asks. Garvross looks up at her, "Most likely their son."

Melody's heart shudders, "Why would they..." she trails off. Garvross shakes his head, "I don't know, but, I do know they never do anything without reason." Melody looks lost for words, "So what do we do then?" She asks looking at Garvross. "We watch over him like I promised." He says as he stands up an looks at Melody. Seeing the determined look in his eyes, Melody just nods her head before they both leave the room.
