"Ren, get up! You're going to be late!" A voice rang out throughout the house during the early hours of the morning. There was a loud crash as something hit the floor upstairs, before a figure dashed down the stairs. "Why didn't you wake me earlier?!" Ren shouts as he dashes out the door, still pulling his shirt on.
"Don't forget where the assessment's happening either!" Shouts Garvross. Ren stops just outside the front door. Garvross looks up from the book he's reading, "You forgot didn't you?" he asks with an amused smile. Ren gives an awkward laugh as he scratches his head. "I'll take him there!" Valoryn says excitedly as she runs upstairs to get something.
"Make sure you get there on time!" Melody shouts upstairs to Valoryn before glancing at Rendryn. Garvross puts down his book and looks at Melody who's standing near his chair with a mischievous grin. Just as Melody is about to walk away, Garvross' arm sneaks around her waist before she is pulled down onto him, causing her to give a shocked shout.
"I'm ready!" Valoryn shouts as she runs down the stairs and towards the door. She glances to the side, catching a glimpse of Garvross and Melody kissing. "Get a room you guys!" She says as she leaves the house, grabbing Rendryn's arm on the way. "Don't take too long, it's going to start soon!" Melody calls after them.
Running through the streets to the town center, Val and Ren continued to dodge and weave through the crowd before coming to a stop where a group of about twenty-four kids around the age of 10 were at. Val looked towards Ren with a big smile and said, "I'll wait for you over there." Pointing towards one of the food stalls.
Before Ren could even reply, Val had already vanished from in front of him. Sighing to himself, he turned to face to big stage where all the kids were gathered. Making his way towards it, Ren spots his best friend, Ablixeron, "Hey Blix, over here!" he calls waving his arms in the air.
A kid with dark golden hair looks up, and towards Ren. His silvery eyes widen before he smiles and runs over towards Ren. When he gets to Ren, he ruffles Ren's hair before Ren swats his hand away smiling. "Took your time getting here, it's about to start." Ablixeron says, putting an arm on Ren's shoulder.
"Well, look who we have here, if it isn't the two freaks." A voice cuts in from behind as Ren is about to answer his friend. Turning around, Ren and Blix are faced with a dark brown haired kid, his green eyes mocking them as he has a smirk on his face. Ren and Blix look at each other, then back towards the brown haired kid.
"I don't see any freaks around here," Ren says with a slight smile, "but I can see some trash in front of me." Blix starts smiling before he looks around, "I don't see and freaks either, but I can smell something that reeks of trash." He says, looking back towards the boy, who's face is a deep shade of crimson, and has a look of utter rage on his face.
The boy is about to say something, but a figure appears on the stage. The figure on stage is a woman who looks about thirty years old, she has long orange hair, her eyes are a piercing blue, and she's wearing a red mages robe, while holding an exquisite staff in her left hand.
"Welcome, I am this years assessment supervisor, Lysedra." She says, looking out over the crowd. Her eyes pause on a certain place in the crowd, before she continues looking at the rest of the crowd. "I'm sure everyone is eager to get started. But, I have an announcement to make before hand. Lyeecia, come up here please."
"Yes ma'am." A young woman, that looks about eighteen years old, wearing silver armor, with a sword at her hip and shield on her back walks up the stairs and onto the stage. She has long golden hair, and looks out over the crowd with her silver eyes, pausing on the spot where Ren and Blix are standing, before continuing to walk up to Lysedra, who is waiting patiently.
"Lyeecia here is an envoy for the Dragoon and the Paragon, sent to find people to go train with them." Lysedra says, causing a wave of excitement to go through the crowd, "But! Only five people will be chosen to go." She finishes, causing the excitement to die down.
"Also, there has already been three people chosen from other villages and town, so there are only two spots available." Lysedra says, looking out over the crowd. As Lysedra was talking, there were people moving a pedestal holding a crystal ball on it, with a screen of some kind behind it. They also moved two massive pillars, one silver and one gold, onto the stage.
"Now then, we shall now begin the assessment," Lysedra says, "when your name is called, please come up onto the stage and place your hand on the crystal ball, the screen will display the Class you are assigned, while, the two pillars will tell us which energy you will use, and how well you will be able to use it." She continues, pointing to the crystal ball, and two pillars on the stage.
As Lysedra started calling people up, to Ren looked over at Blix, "What do you think your Class will be?" Ren asks, grinning from ear to ear. "No idea, but I bet it's going to be powerful." Blix says, grinning back. As Ren and Blix are talking, the boy from before gets called up.
“Vexon O’anmel.” Lysedra calls. Vexon turn turns to Ren and Blix, “I’ll show you who the real trash is.” He says with a smirk, before he walks up onto the stage and places his hand onto the crystal ball. The screen above the crystal ball starts to glow as words appear on it, “Vexon O’anmel – Cleric” the screen says.
Vexon’s smirk drops, as his face drains of color, “Why?!” He shouts, looking at the words, but no matter how long he looks at it, it doesn’t change. The pillars on either side of the crystal ball glow slightly, and under Vexon’s class appears another line of text, “Energy affinity, Chaos – Poor, Origin -Poor”.
Vexon stumbles backwards slightly, his face devoid of any color. Ren and Blix look up at the screen and burst out laughing, almost falling over. “I guess we know who the trash is now don’t we.” Ren says between his laughter. Blix hearing this just laughs even more, almost falling over from it. Vexon glares daggers at Ren and Blix before walking down from the stage with his head down.
“Next is Ablixeron Flareheart.” Lysedra calls. Blix looks at Ren and grins, “Looks like it’s my turn.” He says, putting a fist up. “Knock ‘em dead.” Ren says, raising a fist of his own and bumping Blix’s. Blix turns and walk up onto the stage and places his hand onto the crystal ball.
