When Everything Changes

Chapter 13

"You ready to go, cous?" Alexis asked Jake.

"Yeah, absolutely!" he answered.

"You?" Michael asked me now. Michael is a 19 year old football player at UBC.

"Yup," I answered not leaving Jake's side.

Michael and Alexis crawled into the front of the large seven seat SUV while Sean, a 17 year old cousin of Jake, gets in the back with Carl who is 18 and the last of his cousins Wesley. Wesley May sound like a terrible and a total turn off of a name, but believe me the 21 yer old has something going for him.

Finally Jake and I took the last seats in the very back with no one next to either of us.

"You know Elizabeth," Wesley started.

"Call me Lizzie."

"Ok Lizzie, you are the first and only girl Jake has gushed about and that we have ever met." he stated.

"Is that so?" I said looking at me boyfriend next to me. "Awe I love you too, Jake. I feel extra special now." I joked.

"Haha," Jake started, "Carl, Wesley, Michael, Sean. If you try anything you won't live to see Christmas morning!"

"Calm down man, we're not gonna move in on her." Sean said annoyed.

"If the testosterone doesn't settle the fuck down in here in less that twenty minutes, I'm dropping you boys off at the side of the highway!" Alexis piped up in all seriousness.

"Thank you, Alexis. If you didn't say anything soon I would have." I said.

The next three hours went by quietly and I actually got in some sleep cuddling up to Jake as I did so.

"Alexis, I have to piss so bad! Stop the car please I'm begging you," I woke up to a whining boyfriend.

"Ok, very manly baby. Please keep going," I sighed, annoyed I had been woken up from a sleep that I haven't had a nightmare in.

"Sorry, but a guys gotta go when a guys gotta go."

"Stop, both of you I'll pull over." Alexis sighed pulling over at the first rest stop we could. Jake hurried out and stood at the edge of the road taking his time doing his buisness.

"That's better," Jake said sounding relieved when he got back into the back seat rubbing his hands with hand sanitizer.

"Let's just go," I said wanting to go back to sleep. Alexis switched spots with Michael now driving so she could take a nap.

Jake wrapped arms around me and we both dozed off a few minutes later.

"We're here. Wake up!" Michael shouted. We all filed out of the car grabbing our bags out of the back of the SUV and went to our rooms to get set up.

"I'll order some take-out," Carl said tiredly.

"Here follow me. We're going to share a room." Jake said leading me upstairs and into a small room with a double bed.

I set my bags down and turned around to see Jake crawling into bed in only his underwear. I quickly got into my pajamas went downstairs to tell everyone Jake and I were going to sleep and went back upstairs to our room.

"Hey," I said crawling under the warm sheets and quickly finding my way up next to my boyfriend steeling his warmth.

"Hey. I thought you were just going to go downstairs and eat."

"No."

"I'm glad you didn't." he said leaning into me.

"Me too."

"I love you so much Lizzie you have no idea." he said kissing my forehead.

"I love you too. Now go to sleep." I said starting to shut my eyes. As I was sleeping I could here people shuffling around downstairsand the door opening. I ignored all of it and just feel into a deep sleep.
