Trying to look on the bright side of the things, Paige had let me snack on ice cream the whole night. I bought every tub of ice-cream there was on campus - I felt a little bad but I deserved it. Luckily, after picking up my phone there was no crack in the screen, and I quickly deleted Facebook. I didn't need to see anymore photos of mom.
An hour after crying my eyes out, I had typed out a furious text message to my mom which contained more then a few choice words. Paige grabbed my phone from me and deleted the message before I could send it, telling I'd regret it in the morning. I wasn't so sure about that fact but I didn't type out another message after that.
Shortly after gorging myself with 7 tubs of Ben and Jerry's cookie dough ice cream, I realized it was school tomorrow- and I took a shower. With high hopes that school would bring everything back to normal and that this thing with mom wouldn't be real, I finished putting my hair in a braid, set the alarm, turned off the light and crawled into bed.
Emotionally and Physically drained, I fell asleep before my head even hit the pillow - and I snored all night long. The next morning - too early may I add for human life to be up, the alarm buzzed, and rang out like a siren.
I slapped my hand on top of it and slowly sat up. I swung my legs out of bed, looking down at the lavender shag rug underneath my feet. I stood up and walked to the bathroom, eager to start the day. I brushed my hair, and put it up in a high bun. I brushed my teeth, and applied my usual makeup. I slipped on a flowery tee, and pulled on some dark wash jeans. Packing my pink backpack, with a binder, agenda, my laptop and phone, I was ready to go. "Paige, You ready?" I called as I slipped a sweater on.
"Almost!" Paige replied, sticking her head out of the bathroom, one false eyelash hanging off her right eye. I chuckled as she quickly fixed it. She stepped out, dressed in a orange turtle neck with a black skirt. She had some clunky jewelry on and she looked fabulous. "Now I'm ready!" She grinned and grabbed her shoulder bag stuffed full of her binders and laptop.
We walked down to the cafeteria, and each grabbed a plate of steaming eggs, sausages and fruit. We grabbed a large table for three by the window, and waited until Kayden came to sit with us. "Morning babe." He leaned down and kissed my cheek as he slid his food tray onto the table. After that, we dug hungrily into our food - we only had 15 minutes to each and then 5 minutes to get from the cafeteria building to the main school building.
After finishing our breakfast, we returned the trays and we stood at the exit of the cafeteria building. "I have biology first." I said, looking at my schedule. "And I have English first." Paige said softly. "I have Biology first as well." Kayden said softly and looped an arm around my waist. "Okay. I'll see you at lunch then Paige." I said, and waved to her before leaving for the science building which was across the courtyard.
Arriving in Biology, I slid into a seat beside Alyssa - every girl needs a break from their man sometimes. Besides, after what happened with my mom, I wasn't really in the mood for lovey dovey relationship. "Hey." I smiled to Alyssa, taking out my binder. "Hello." She grinned back, playing on her phone. The conversation dissolved after that, and the class began.
A gruelling 2 1/2 hours later, the bell rang, and I ran out of the math building as fast as I could. 2 classes down, 2 more to go. I walked to the dorms quickly, and deposited my math and science textbook, and walked to the cafeteria, where I met up with Paige in the line. "Thanks for holding my spot." I told her as I squeezed into the long line for spaghetti and meatballs. I swiped my meal card, picked up a tray, and grabbed a blood orange flavour San Pellegrino.
We took our trays to a small two person table beside the window, staring into the stable. "It's been a humid April." I stated, tossing my backpack to the floor. "Oh boy, Yeah. There's been no rain for two months straight - unusual for Seattle. There's a huge fire ban on apparently." Paige replied earnestly, twirling her fork in her spaghetti. I stuffed a piece of garlic bread in my mouth and nodded. "Yeah the hay within the stable is so dry- I'm surprised it hasn't gone up in flames!" I chuckled dramatically. "Don't say that Eleanor, the school would lose half of it's students with a burnt down stable." She said seriously, but a smile was still etched upon her face.
I nodded, and ate one of my many meatballs. Lunch was pretty quiet - We finished our meals and threw them in the trash. "Shall we go to English?" I asked as I grabbed my bag. Paige nodded and we made our way to the English building. We slipped into the classroom, and sat beside eachother.
Another gruelling 2 hours later, the school bell rang ending our tortue, as Paige and I departed from the cooking classes together. "Finally done." I sighed as we slipped into our dorm. No lessons this week- since the show was only a week ago. I threw on some lounge pants and a PINK [victoria secret's pink brand not the colour] sweatshirt. We laid down on our beds, and stretched out. "The walking dead?" I asked as I turned the TV on. "Sure, I need to watch season 6 anyways." Paige agreed as I went on Netflix quickly. I turned on episode one and settled back into a comfortable position.
The fire alarm rang loudly, just as the finishing credits rolled. It blared, blurring our vision. "Paige! The fire alarm! Is it real?" I yelped as I got out of bed, grabbed my phone and slipped on my sneakers. Paige peeked out the window. "Eleanor..." she trailed off, gulping. "What is it?" I demanded opening the door.
"Eleanor- It's the stable. The stable's on fire."
