"Wake up!" someone shrieked. Eva opened her eyes and was met by someone standing over her bed. Her roommate. She was her age, she guessed, and had long dark hair and tanned skin. She also had a piercing New Zealand accent.

"Huh?" she answered groggily.

"Come on! Breakfast is in 10 minutes! And you still have to shower and get dressed and everything!" announced her roommate.

"Sorry, I don't think we've meet..." said Eva, sitting up.

"Oh right! I'm Nishtha, your roommate. I started here last term. I live in New Zealand." said the girl.

"Okay...I'm Eva, and I'm from Birmingham, and this is my first day." Eva said slowly.

"Well yeah I kinda figured that one! You're 5th form, right? Same form as me?" asked Nishtha.

"Um yeah..." Eva said. "I'm going to have a shower..."

"Okay so you are either in Dunbar, MacLean, or Swinton. Dunbar is light blue, MacLean is maroon, and Swinton is silver. We are in Dunbar, which is why everything is light blue." Eva looked around her room. The curtains, desks, and beds were all icy blue. "All the girls in Dunbar are in this boarding house and all the MacLean girls are in the MacLean house and so on. We also have our own stable blocks, and when you're assigned a horse for the year, that's where it's kept. You don't go into other houses stables or boarding houses. Kapeesh?" explained Nishtha.

"Okay." said Eva. She was dressed in her school uniform, as the riding lessons were in the afternoon.

"Coolios. Let's go to breakfast." Nishtha grabbed her school bag and opened the door out into the corridor, where girls were throwing each things at each other through doorways and shrieking about the results from the show jumping that weekend. They made their way down through the corridor, down a flight of stairs, through a double set of doors, and into the boarding house's lobby. Nishtha led her out the doors and across a lawn into a large stone building on a hill. It reminded Eva of a castle. "This is the main building, where all the offices are and the admin stuff is. It also backs onto the dining room and the classrooms. Then all the fun stuff, aka the stables and riding arenas are over there." She pointed to a collection of barns and paddocks down at the base of the hill with riders just visible through a light fog. Nishtha swept Eva through the doors of the main building and down some more corridors until they arrived at a large hall.

Students laughed and chatted over breakfast, while staff patrolled to make sure no food fights were started. There was a large all-you-can-eat

buffet on one side of the room, and windows looked out onto the Scottish moors on the other.

"Let's grab some breakfast, ay?" The buffet had everything, from crumpets to wheetabix (which Nishtha seemed to stray towards), and from dragonfruit to smoothies. Eva grapped a muffin and a mango smoothie and sat down at a table with Nishtha. A group of girls rushed over to Nishtha and sat down next to her. Eva concluded that they must be her friends.

"Oh hey, are you the new girl?" one of them said. She was a brunette with a slight English accent and something else Eva couldn't detect. "I'm Grace," she said. "I'm focusing on Dressage, and it's my 5th year here. But I'm the same form as you."

"Oh hi, I'm Eva." she stuttered nervously.

"Nice to meet you!'

"Hi Eva, I'm Milly!"

"Hey, I'm Izzie."

"Sup."

"Hey I'm Kasey and I'm the best rider here so hang out with me and you'll be fine." said one of the girls. There was an awkward silence, broken by one of the girls having a coughing fit.

"We'll see you guys in class later!" said Nishtha, standing up. Eva followed behind her.

"Bye!" yelled Grace.
