Happy Hallowe'en

Hallowe'en a time of year of house parties and children receiving candy from strangers.
I used to love this time of the year.
Tree's shedding the old to begin with the new, apple pie, and spending time with family.
However my love for this Holiday had slowly faded as I grew older.
Perhaps it was because I had grown out of the holiday. Like a snake shed it's skin.

*Ring Ring* The phone I had started ringing. I quickly stood out of my chair.
And began walking to the phone. "Hello?" I said. I heard nothing but a calm and breathe on the other end.
"To whom am I speaking to?" Just that same calm breathing agian.

*Knock* I had heard this at the door. I kept the phone in my grasp. As if something was possessing me. I wondered who was a the the door. So I peered through the glass in the center of my door.

*thud* It was the only thing I heard when I let the phone drop from my grasp.
The beast or creature on the other side.....shook me up.

The beast was bipedal on four legs. Had the head of a dog. Exposing it's brain on the right side.
It's left eye popped out attached by its flesh.
An arm that was ripped open to the point to seeing the muscle. The hand on that arm was bone.
The other hand a human head.
And in the center of it......was a.....heart.

I had hit the floor, gasping for air, in an almost seizure like matter.
The last words I heard was "Happy Hallowe'en."
From the previously silent phone.
