Day Forty-three, Last day

A surprise sure is what Carson and Erin and the man get.

It wasn't her mom's familiar beat up, red car. It wasn't Cherry's baby blue slug bug either.

Oh, no. It was a blue minivan.

One that fills Carson with dread. She takes a step back, eyes wide, and it clicks with Erin and the man.

This is not someone Carson likes.

It's her kidnapper.

Erin yells something about needing back up. Officers run out of the police station. The hum of Carson's mom's car flows through her ears and her mom is about 20 feet away from the minivan. Before the police can do anything, before Mabel and Cherry can pull into the station's parking lot in Mabel's car something horrible happens.

Nathaniel Thomas Jim Lee, better and only known as Nate to Carson, steps out of his vehicle and aims a gun right at Carson.

Gun shots sound through the air and Nathaniel Lee falls to the ground after his body shakes from all of the bullets hitting him.

But he's not the only one who falls.

Carson, the loving and kind girl who puts everyone before herself, is laying on the ground, blood pooling around her, more specifically her head.

Screams are heard and Mabel jumps out of the driver seat and rushes to her daughter. Cherry's scream was also heard but she's slower to get to Carson because her lack of eating and good health from the past couple of weeks.

Erin, the man, Mabel, and Cherry collapse next to where Carson lays.

Erin looks away and stands up, shaking his head at the officers around him and they stand as Mabel and Cherry sob, the man also crying.

Those eyes, they were hers. The man, Carson's father, shares Carson's eyes. She recognized them from her mirror. From her reflection. He never knew of Mabel's pregnancy and only figured it out from watching the news.

Mabel, she knows that Carson's father is with her as her daughter's bloodied head lays in her lap. Mabel puts her head on his chest and cries.

Cherry holds Carson's lifeless hand and she sobs harder than she ever has.

Amanda, just now arriving and seeing the group on the ground, immediately bursts into tears and runs to them. She and Cherry hug as they cry next to their bestfriend.

Carson is loved and cared for. Carson is adored and idolized. Carson is wanted and needed.

Yet, Carson is dead.
