***April’s Point of View***
“No, no, she needs to be okay,” I could hear my mother sobbing as I slowly awoke. Where was I?
“We are doing all that we can. Right now it’s a matter of waiting. She should be awake soon. Then we can run some tests and see exactly what can be done to help her,” says a man in blue scrubs. He looked official.
All I could remember was walking to the bathroom and everything going black.
“Oh, gosh, she’s awake!” my mother exclaims, rushing to the side of my hospital bed. I’m in a hospital bed? That means I’m in the hospital.
“Mum,” I say, sitting up. Pain shot through me.
“No, lie down sweetie. You’re going to be okay. Just relax.”
That’s when I noticed the wires hooked up to my body.
“What’s going on?” I ask. I was so confused. Nothing was making sense. “Why does my head hurt?”
“You passed out and hit your head on the tile floor. You’re going to be alright, but you’re extremely dehydrated and you need some rest. I thought you were eating again, April.”
Before I could respond to this, a familiar face appeared in the doorway of the room. My breath caught in my throat and everyone’s eyes turned to him, but he was only looking at me. He looked like he hadn’t slept in days, and his blonde hair was a complete mess. Hell, he was a complete mess. I could tell just by looking at him.
“Niall,” I choke out.
“I’m sorry, but I’m going to need everyone out of here. Visitors can come back later. Right now there are tests we need to-“
“No,” I say, cutting off the doctor. “I-I mean….can I just talk to him for a little bit? Please? It’s important…”
He didn’t look happy, but in the end he agreed to let Niall stay for a bit. He and my mum left us alone to talk, shutting the door behind them.
“Hey,” he says, pulling up a chair next to me. “What happened? Are you okay? Wow, that was a dumbass question. Obviously you’re not okay. Ugh, I’m such an idiot. This is all my fault,” he rants, covering his face with his hands.
“Stop, Niall,” I say gently. “This is no one’s fault but my own.”
“Why would you do this to yourself again?!” he asks. He was more begging than asking. Tears were threatening to spill from his eyes. I could see the pain evident on his face.
“I’m sorry,” I say barely above a whisper. Tears were already pouring down my face. “I am so sorry, Niall. I’ve fucked up everything.”
