5'8" and three quarters, he says,
in a way that makes those three fourths matter
and in that moment I think of a memory
and it takes me back to when
we cared about the miniscule things
'cause I remember being so small
and so desperate to grow up
that I'd say three-, four-, six and a half
and I'd insist that I was more matured than a whole number
that my progress in the past year was big enough to mean something
holding out a hope that someday, I'd be big enough to matter
too.
