Armin woke up to the sound of his alarm beeping. He reached over and hit snooze, rubbing his eyes. Once he got up and stepped over to his closet to change clothes, he realized that it would be the first day back to school with Annie as his girlfriend. The blonde smiled, being rather excited to officially introduce Annie to Eren and Mikasa, as well as his other friends.
He didn't think it would be much of a surprise. Since the first week of school Armin was often caught staring at her during lunch or in class, and has been teased about it ever since. If he didn't know any better, he would say Mikasa probably saw this coming. After all she was pretty observant, unlike Eren. However even the brunet has encouraged Armin to go talk to her, if you count "Dude, staring at her is pretty creepy. Just go talk to her already." as being encouraging.
Armin chuckled at the memory before heading downstairs to eat, hearing his grandfather in the kitchen getting ready for work. When the boy stepped into the kitchen he greeted him, "Good morning!" Opening the pantry to settle for some cereal, grabbing the cereal box and a bowl.
"Good morning to you too." His grandfather smiled and cleaned up his own plate. He watched Armin prepare his breakfast and sit down, doing it all with a joyous smile plastered on his face. "Well, somebody is in a good mood." He spoke, picking up his coffee and taking a sip. "How did everything go yesterday? When I got back home you were already asleep."
Armin's smile grew, "It went great, we finished our project." When he thought back to the events that occurred afterwards, he tried his best not to blush. He was still surprised it even happened, but he wasn't about to tell his grandfather that. "..Then I walked her back home, that's about it."
The older man grinned, he was ecstatic to see his grandson so happy. "I'm glad you kids had fun. Annie's a lovely gal."
"Yeah, she is." Armin could feel butterflies in his stomach simply by thinking of her. He wouldn't admit it to Annie, but he felt this way every time he laid eyes on her.
His grandfather finished his coffee, laughing as he walked over and patted Armin on the shoulder. "Don't ever change, Armin. You're a special boy." He reached over and grabbed his hat, "I better get going. I'll see you after work." He placed the hat on his head and exited the kitchen. Leaving the blond boy beaming. Today's going to be a good day.
When Armin went back upstairs he looked at the clock, 6:36am. It made him wonder if Annie's clock had actually worked or not. The first idea he came up with was to call her, but what if she was already awake? I don't want to bother her.. But I don't want her to be late either. His eyes peered over to his phone as he contemplated. Alright fine, I'll text her and if she doesn't respond then I'll call her. The boy picked up his phone and started typing.
Monday, August 31 6:36am
6:36 Armin: Good morning Annie.
Wanting to give her a few minutes to respond, he went to brush his teeth. When he checked his phone once he finished a few minutes later, no answer.
Armin bit his lip, thinking that she's probably too busy getting ready to check her phone. After spending more time debating what he should do, in the end he decided to call anyways. He lifted the phone to his ear and listened. It rang a few times, each ring making him more and more anxious. Then a groggy voice was heard on the other end.
"..Hello?" The sound of Annie's dazed tone made him hold back a laugh.
"Good morning sleeping beauty. I know how much you love getting up in the morning, so I thought I'd help out." Armin mocked playfully.
"How thoughtful." He heard her yawn, her deadpan sarcasm evident. "What time is it?"
"6:40"
Annie groaned. "Is it really necessary to go to school?"
