Hermione quickly put on her beanie to cover her head from the cold, and to keep people from staring at her. She saw her mother and let go of my hand and ran to her arms.
"Mum!" She cried. Her mother wrapped her arms around her and didn't let go for a few minutes. Hermione was crying and her mother was telling her everything was okay. Everything wasn't okay.
"Hermione dear, who is this man you've brought home with you? Is he someone from the school to help you get home?" Her mother asked. I decided to introduce myself.
"Mrs. Granger, my name is Severus Snape. I'm your daughter's potions professor." This was all I said. Then Hermione looked at her mother.
"He's also my, um... significant other is what we're calling each other." She said quietly.
"Hermione Jean Granger! Why didn't you tell me sooner! The guest bedroom is a wreak. And he's your professor! Isn't there a rule that says students and professors aren't allowed to have relations until after you graduate?" She said as we walked to her car.
"Well mum, there is a rule. But .." I cut her off.
"The rule states that the couple shouldn't be seen at school during any class or at any meal or feast. As long as you are in private talking or spending time with each other then it is okay." I lied a little. Professor Student Relationships are strictly forbidden, but her mother didn't need to know. Hermione looked at me funny.
"Well, your father is on his way home from the office. He had a child with five cavities to fill today and the little bugger bit his fingers! We should probably be heading home as well, your father will want to meet you Mr. Snape." She said.
"Please. Call me Severus." I said. We all got in the car and began the drive to Hermione's house.
We got there about five minutes after Hermione's father, and I was so terrified about what he was going to say to me.
"Well look who came home! Come here baby girl." He said to Hermione. I stood there awkwardly, then he finally saw me.
"Hermione, who is this man?" He asked, glaring holes through me.
"Daddy, this is Severus Snape. He's my significant other." She said boldly.
"To hell he is! He looks twenty years older than you! He looks like he could be your father! How did this happen?" He said.
There was an awkward pause.
"Answer me!" He screamed.
"Now, now dear. No need to shout." Mrs. Granger said, bring out a tea tray from the kitchen.
"This conversation isn't over." Mr. Granger said.
Great I thought.
"How are your classes?" Mrs. Granger asked.
"I've been too sick to go to any of them." She sighed.
"Oh, well you have an appointment tomorrow so well see what Dr. Nick says about your Chemotherapy." She said, the smile slowly fading from her sweet face.
"Yeah, I guess." Hermione set her teacup on the coffee table and grabbed my hand.
"I'm going to unpack my suitcase and lay down for awhile. Is Severus allowed in my room? I mean, I am an adult.." she said.
"Leave the door open and it's fine with us." Said Mrs. Granger. Hermione nodded and we went up to her room.
