Tim returned.

Lily watched with her blank eyes as he came, appearing near the door, panting but smiling. There was a relieved look painted on his face and she almost forgot that he made her wait.

"Lily," he breathed, looking at her crumpled form on the ground.

There weren't any sparks on her eyes, Tim didn't even recognize her. Her hair, rough but beautiful, was a simple mop of dry strands, and her cheeks looked sunken. He crouched on front of her, taking her ghostly white hand into his and grinned.

"I missed you," he said, looking at her face for any sign of recognition. Surely he hadn't messed up the time and universe, he made sure that he would arrive at that moment, a month and two weeks after he had left. It was some kind of taboo to them to travel back to a timeline that weren't theirs, seeing that in multiple timelines or universe, there was only one of them.

Lily remained silent, unmoving and a hidden steel on her gaze. Tim was, though he hated to admit it, looking at a stranger. A stranger whom he had memories with.

After what felt like a lifetime, Tim was starting to doubt if he even came back at the right time. Something started to prickle his eyes, tears as he found out when he wiped them away. Lily's lips were still pursued into a thin line, he was beginning to think that she was angry.

Lily's own orbs began to water. "What... did-did... you do?" She croaked out, swallowing in tears.

Tim felt a huge wave of relief hit him and he leaned in. He gently kissed her forehead, letting his lips linger for a moment too long.

"Saving you, missy."
