Before Gemma, Lily and Tim joked about Peter Pan.
Naturally, Tim was Peter Pan. People would automatically brand Lily as Wendy but the two would like to disagree. Wendy left Peter Pan. She grew up and Peter Pan didn't. While Tinker Bell never left Peter Pan's side, though some versions had her really dying, she didn't age.
Therefore, Lily would be Tinker Bell.
Peter Pan and Wendy had a tragic ending and the two didn't like that. They promised that they would never leave each other. She would never be like Wendy who left Peter Pan. She would always be at his side.
Lily stayed true to her promise. She lived up her name, Tinker Bell, and was forever loyal to him. Tim lived up his name, Peter Pan, because Peter Pan left Tinker Bell, banished her and ultimatley never came back for her.
At least Tim just left, not exiled her.
That didn't make anything easier.
