Harry woke up to the sun streaming through his new gray curtains, lighting up his face. He squints and turns over, pulling the heavy blankets up to his chin and closing his eyes once more.
He hears the door open. He doesn't open his eyes, for he knows that it's Hermione. Maybe she would wake him up with a kiss... that would be nice....
"Mione?" He asks, opening one eye. Hermione stands at her dresser, wearing jeans that pronounced her curves and a blue shirt that complimented her tan skin, tying her hair up. When she turns at the sound of his voice, he sees that she has bobby pins in her mouth.
"Hmm?" She asks.
"What are you doing?"
She frowns at him, and the act makes a bobby pin drop to the floor. "We have work today. Job interviews I set up for us- remember?" She finishes the half up half down sort of thing, and tugs it lightly, making sure it was in place. She secures in one more bobby pin, and places the one she had dropped on her dresser.
Harry mentally slapped his head. He had forgotten about that. "Why did you set them up the day after we got our new house? We don't even get one day to have fun and relax."
"True," She says. "but the bills still need to be payed this month to the Ministry, and we can't pay them if we don't have jobs."
Harry groans. "I'm not going."
"Fine. Have fun being unemployed."
He grins at her. "Can't be too bad- you'll be employed. So I'll just live with you."
"Unless I kick you out and keep Teddy with me. Then how's unemployment going to work for you?" She asks, nodding her head towards the room next to theirs, where Teddy was sleeping.
"Fine."
Harry gets out of bed and walks into the walk in closet that he and Hermione shared. "Hey Mione?" He calls after a minute.
"Yeah?" She calls back, and the way her voice echoed made it sound like she was in the bathroom that was connected to their bedroom.
"What clothes say 'My name is Harry Potter and I'd really like a job please'?"
She walks into the room, a toothbrush in her mouth. "I'm going somewhat casual. Wear these," she pulls out a pair of khakis- the pair he had worn to the graduation party, "and this." she hands him a gray button up shirt with a white tank top to go underneath it. He grins at her.
"Thank you."
She nods, partially rolling her eyes, and walks back into the bathroom.
When Harry emerges from the closet, fully dressed in his work clothes (he had even found a pair of socks on the floor to wear) he sees that Hermione is waiting for him by the doorway. "It's time to wake up Teddy."
A smile devours his face as he pushes his glasses up his nose and follows Hermione into Teddy's room.
The bright blue room, happy and filled with light, greets them as they spot a sleeping Teddy in his bed.
"Hermione, look." Harry says, placing a hand on her shoulder and pointing at Teddy's hair with the other. "He's turned his hair blue."
Hermione smiles down fondly at him. "Brilliant little boy."
Harry watches her as she gently wakes him, and smiles to himself. He could vividly picture her as the mother of his children, and he knew that she would make a wonderful mum. Just watching her now made him feel as if any kid in her hands was safe. Soft, caring, gentle, and filled with love. That's what Hermione was.
