Twelve years ago. Age 6

"Hey Mommy, where are you going?" I asked. She was always leaving and wouldn't come back for a couple days.

"I'll be back soon sweetie." She said smiling at me. "Don't worry." She hurried off carrying a large bag that she always took. I sat down on the front steps of my house and waited. Suddenly my best friend, and only friend, Jasper walked up to me.

"Hey Blair!" He said sitting down next to me. He reached out and messed up my ginger hair.

"Hey Jasper." I said pushing his hand off me. I looked to the ground and he nudged me.

"Hey what's wrong?" He asked.

"My mom left again. I wish I knew where she was goin' " I said. Jasper nodded.

"Well I'm sure she'll be fine." He said. "Hey I just noticed something you talk funny." My cheeks heated up. "I didn't mean that in a mean way!"

"I know I know, me mom said that me great grandparents came from a place called Scotland before the Titans appeared ." I said trying my best to hide my accent.

"That's so cool!" I stared at him. "I mean it!" I laughed and went back to starring at the road. "I-If you don't mind me asking why is your right eye covered up with that bandage." I looked up at him with my one grey eye, the other I kept covered because it's not normal.

"It's weird looking." I said quietly. He looked confused.

"Come on it can't be that bad I promise I won't laugh." He said begin me.

"Fine but you can't tell anyone about it!" I said, he quickly nodded his head eagerly. I reached up to my face and grabbed one end of the bandage. I slowly unwrapped it from my face and the blinding light made my right eye squint. I opens both eyes wide and Jasper's mouth hung open.

"You have one grey eye and one purple eye?!?" He yelled. I punched him in the arm and glared at him. "That's super cool!" He said quieter this time.

"Yeah whatever." I mumbled. I started to put the bandage back on my face when Jasper grabbed my hand.

"Why are you putting it back on?" He asked.

"Because it looks funny." I said pulling my hand back.

"Please keep it off." He asked. I shook my head. "Please!" He gave me big puppy eyes.

"Fine." I sighed.

"Yay! Come on you can stay with my family until your mom comes back!" He grabbed my hand and pulled me off to his house.

"Ah welcome Blair!" Jasper's mom said.

"Hi Mrs.Clark!" I said. I stayed with Jasper's family for two days. I'd spend my nights on my front  steps waiting for my mom to get home. Jasper would wait with me to keep me company. I was waiting again when a man dressed in the Survey Corps uniform walked up to me.

"Are you Blair Tormaigh?" He asked. I swallowed the lump in my throat and nodded. He bent down so he was at my eye level and handed me a box. "I'm sorry to tell you that you're mother didn't make it back from today's mission."

"What do you mean my mom isn't in the survey corps?!" I yelled, tears welling up in my eyes. The man's eyes widened and he looked sadder.

"Fiona never told you?!" He said his eyes beginning in to tear up. "Your mother was a brave an strong soldier, one of the best we had. There are some things she left for you in he box and her scout cape, the cape is all we could get back." He said standing up. "I'm sorry." Then he walked away.

I opened the box and froze when I saw a green cape stained with blood. Tears streamed down my face as I pushed it aside and picked up a note.

      Dear Blair,
If you're reading this then I'm sorry. It means that I'm gone and I left you on your own. I want to tell you I'm sorry for keeping this from you and that I'm sorry I won't be there to see you grow up. I know you probably don't remember you father since he died right after you were born. He died fighting a Titan, like I probably will too. Please survive and be happy and remember that I love you and I always will.
                        Mom.

In the box was also some money and a necklace with a wing pendant on it. I picked up my mom's cape and hugged it, crying into it.  I heard footsteps running up to me.

"Blair what's wrong?!"  Jasper asked running over to me.

"She's gone, my mom's gone forever!!" I yelled. He froze and hugged me. "I hate them, I hate Titans. IM GONNA MAKE THEM PAY!!!" I sobbed into Jasper's shoulder. After a few minuets we got up and walked back to Jasper's house.

Six years later. Age 12.

"Welcome to hell boys and girls! If you think this training will be a piece of cake then you can leave right now!" A field of recruits were lined up and standing at attention as the instructor yelled at us. "You what is your name boy?!"

"My name is Felix sir!" The boy yelled snapping into a salute.

"Do you think you can't survive my training soldier?! Because I don't! You better prove me wrong soldier or I'll beat it out of you!"

"Yes sir!" He yelled. The man went from recruit to recruit screaming in their face. He stopped at Japser, a few kids down from me.

"You!" Japser saluted him. "Who are you!?"

"My name is Japser Clark Sir!" He yelled. The man was silent then moved on. He walk past me but then stopped a few seconds after. He turned back and stood in front of me.

"What's with your eye?" He asked surprisingly calmly.

"I was born with it sir!" I said saluting him.

He paused staring at me face. "Its nice to finally  meet you Blair, your parents would be proud." He continued walking to the nest kid. He knew my parents?

Eventually he was done screaming in peoples faces and we were dismissed and sent to our bunks. The kids who couldn't handle the pressure were sent to the fields since they were of no use to the military. Training had only begun.
