Driven mad by her employer's daughter, Elise Summerhall resigned from her job and stormed out of Hadleigh Hall. It was the only thing she could think of to escape from Alex Mathews. It wasn't the best idea at that time but afterwards Mr. Mathews begged her to come back and was sorry for his daughter's behavior. She felt sorry for the father because she knows how much stress Alex put him through.
"I have to think about it, Mr. Mathews. I'm really sorry for what happened." Said Elise in a cold voice. She ended the phone conversation without saying goodbye. The young lady was indeed facing yet another cross road. She thought if she goes left and refused Mr. Mathews, she would feel guilty in leaving the drained man, thus, leaving her music career in the drain. But if she goes right... What would happen if she goes right? She admitted that she would miss the company of the staff in Hadleigh Hall and especially the music that comes along with it. She doesn't care much about Alex Mathews, weather she is blind or not. She thought she could just ignore her and just focus on her music, but then again, what would really happen if someone was ignored? How does it really feel to be alone and vulnerable all the time?
The young lady tried to analyze everything by taking a walk in the park. She usually does this whenever she would face a difficult decision. She sat on a bench and started humming yet again another melody in her head. She smiled and brought out a piece of paper and started writing the notes from scratch. She hummed and hummed until she finished her composition. Looking at her master piece this particular one was special because it reminded her of her days when she was alone two years ago. She had found a new home because of an old friend who cared for her and loved her. Mr. Mathews might be feeling alone right now, she thought. Her behavior as well was unacceptable, it was his daughter after all. But then again, it was his daughter that drives her crazy. She's really unbelievable.
"Excuse me, young lady."
Elise looked up and saw an old man with a walking stick.
"May I sit here? My legs aren't what they used to..."
Elise smiled and nodded at the old man. She stared at him and thought, this old man was familiar. The old man glanced at Elise and smiled as well.
"It's not nice to stare, young lady. But for you... I'll make an exception." the old man chuckled as he placed his hands on the curved shaped top of the stick.
Elise narrowed her eye sight on the old man, "Mister, I'm sorry for staring but you seemed familiar to me."
The old man smiled as his eyes scoured the park, "I believe I still owe you an apology from that accident."
The young lady thought of a memory, "Accident? You mean... you're the..."
The old man once again chuckled and turned his body to face the young lady, "Yes, I'm very sorry. Your friend was a little bit intimidating. He reminded of me of myself when I was younger. I think he likes you. I saw the way he rushed into you to see if you were okay."
Elise looked down and bitterly smiled, "No, he's just a friend. It was my fault anyway... I wasn't looking where I was going." She looked at the old man once again and was suddenly dazed by his eyes.
The old man cocked his head sideways, "What's the matter? You seemed... I don't know... conflicted or something..."
Elise shook her head lightly and looked away. She sighed and fiddle the piece of paper she was still holding onto. "Well... it's that girl."
"Hm?"
Elise pointed at Hadleigh Hall peeking through the roofs of the town. She bit her lip and crossed her eyebrows, "The girl that lives there... I really hate her."
