Err this is draft 2 I Guess

( third person )

"You're getting married!"

"You're getting married..." Laurens felt the words roll off his tongue, softer now. What about me?

Tears pricked at his eyes as he thought of all the moments they had spent together. From the countless nights spent drinking - toasts to the revolution and successes they had- to the heartfelt conversations they had, and to their times in battle with one another.

"Why?" it's barely even a whisper, and it's surprising that Alex hears him. But oh, how he wished he didn't. Laurens didn't want the answer, no, he wanted Alexander - for himself.

"Laurens..." Alex mumbles under his breath. How did one answer such a question? But why was he getting married? Sure, Eliza was a fine young lady. One that no doubt captured his heart. But was she really the one?

It didn't matter, did it? "I-I love her," a soft stutter escaped in that raspy voice of his. You do? Laurens could feel his cheeks burning up as his vision blurred. Pain? No.

Anger.

"What happened to forever?" An accusing tone strong in his voice as he questioned the smaller man.

"You said you would love me forever..." Laurens wrapped his arms around himself and began to shake. Shake at the sudden realisation that every stolen kiss, stolen I love you were all lies.

Alexander reached forward to take Laurens' hands. To hold him and tell him that he really did love him. That he would give the world to make him happy. To have him be his.

Laurens let himself get pulled forward by Alexander before jerking away. You don't get to play with me like this! A fume of anger raged within him and his eyes lit with the anger of bloody hell before it simmered. And went dead black. Black as night.

"Laurens..."

There is no response, just a slight clenching of fists and clinging of feet. Don't run away. The freckled man told himself. Don't let him know how hurt you really are.

"You know I love you," Alexander whispered, a droplet springing from his tear duct. He shifted, looking down at the ground, unable to face his dearest Laurens.

"Look into my eyes and tell me that," eyes fully filled with tears, Laurens picked Alexander's chin up and forced him to look at him.

Silence. "You don't mean it — I knew it." Tears running down his freckled cheeks, Laurens muttered, heart aching for the confirmation of unrecruited love.

"I mean it — don't think for a second that I have ever not meant it. I just can't. It's wrong to. This is wrong." He gestured between the two of them, their bodies mere inches away from one another, close enough so that should one of them move, they would be touching. A full face of tears trailed down his face as he turned away and rested his upper body on his desk and sobbed.

"Of course it is Leiutenant Colonel," a bitter voice said with absolute confidence before there was nothing more than the sound of heart break and sobbing to be heard in the tent where an over worked man sat in silence, weeping at the loss of his dearest.

If it's not clear Laurens said the last dialogue and then left. Yah ok Bai
