Chapter 9

"Thank you Mr Jackson" she said in a disgusted annoyed voice.

I heard the second period bell ring "alright guys I'll see you next time,bye! Have a great day!" I said but then two boys came up to me "hey Mr Jackson" "hey,what can i help you guys with?" "Well i was hoping that you could help us after school with our guitar skills because we want to audition for the school talent show" "of course boys but would you please come in at recess' and lunches?" "Yes we can arrange that" "okay great see you at recess" "bye sir" "bye" I said smiling as my next class came in.

"Hello everyone welcome! Today i will be giving you guys tests on the different chords then you guys can have some free time or you can work on an audition in the school play or if you have any questions or need any help just let me know and I would be happy to help" I said passing around the test sheets "your time starts,now!" I said looking at the clock: 10am,they can stop at 10:30am.

I stayed sitting behind my desk,keeping an eye on everyone making sure no one was cheating then my phone buzzed.

S: hey I'm back at home now
M: okay great,i need to keep an eye on the students for now but ill txt you back when their having their free time
S: okay
I put my phone away in my draw and got up.
I walked around looking at everyone's work then i saw a hand rise up so i quickly went over to that student "what can i help you with?" "This one" she said pointing to the question about where the chords go "well remember the abbreviations?" I said whispering "Yes" "well if you remember those in the right order you should be able to get it right" "okay" I saw another hand rise up so I quickly went over to that student "yes?" "Can i hum the chords to help me?" "Yes of course you can" "okay thank you"

I went to a guitar and started playing it quietly and softly trying to keep the students relaxed.

I walked over to my desk with the guitar and kept playing it till my watch alarm went off 10:30am it said,i stopped my watch and put the guitar down leaning against my desk "alright everyone,pens down,pencils down,iPads down and phones down,I'm coming to collect the papers now" I said walking around to everyones desks and picking up the papers,making sure every single one had a name on it and class on it.

I brought them all over to my desk "alright everyone your free time starts now" everyone got out of their desks and pushed them into the draws that we had "Mr Jackson theres no guitars left" I gave him mine "here you go,have mine" "thank you sir" "your welcome" "uh sir,if you don't mind, i was wondering if you could learn me some chords?" "I sure can" I said giving him a stool next to me "do you want me to show you first? Or do you want me to borrow a guitar?" "Umm well actually could you teach me how to read a chord chart?" "Of course!" I drew up a chord chart.

"Okay now where do your fingers go according to this chart?" "Umm one on the top string,two on the one below it?" I shook my head "you got the top one right but let me show you" I said as he handed me the guitar "one goes up top string,one on the one below it but a little bit more forward than the first string then the same one with the third string,third finger a little bit more in front of the second finger,you want to try again?" "Yes please" I gave him the guitar back and he put his fingers just like mine were "perfect! I'll give you two other chords" I put down the two other chords "show me the second chord" he put his first finger on the bottom string,second finger on the one above the third last string and the third finger above the last string "now your getting it,now the last string?" He put his ring finger on the last string "easy" he said smiling "do you want to go join the other students and practice those three strings?" "Yeah!" He ran over to a group of students practising their chords and asked if he could join,they nodded their heads and let him sit with them.

I grabbed my phone out and started texting shelly again (S: Shelly M: Michael)
M: hey beautiful
S: hey! Took you long enough
M: oh shush! Your not the one working all the time
S:😂 alright alright
M: plus i had to teach a kid how to read a chord graph and show him the chords
S: sounds interesting
M: yeah but the class before this one a girl asked me to tune her guitar and she "accidentally" dropped her pencil,she was trying to crack onto me and make me look at her backside
S: well damn,lucky I wasn't there because if i was she wouldn't want to even go in your classroom ever again
M: calm down it was only Melissa
S: of course I don't have to worry about her
M: what have you been doing all this time?
S: studying,practising chords,working on some work
M: that's good,your keeping your mind working
S: and keeping my mind off you for a little bit
M: remember when we first met this year?
S: yes I remember
M: how you said that you were looking at my butt but then you confessed that you were staring at me
S: 😳 yes I remember
M: embarrassing huh?
S: yes very
M: i need you to try and remember something for me though
S: yes?
