Percy POV

I ran faster, catching up to Luke, as the roar grew louder, closer.

I was growing tired quickly, my stamina depleting.

I looked at Luke, who was still a few feet ahead of me.

"Luke," I croak.

He looks back at me, and sees me struggling to keep up, and stops, reaching out and grabbing me, putting me in his back.

He starts to run faster, sprinting, keeping me on his back, having to adjust to keep me on.

"Percy? Luke?"

We pass my mom and dad, and Luke grabs mom's hand, pulling her along.

"We have to go!"

Mom and dad got looks of fright in their eyes, and looked at me with wide eyes.

Starting to run too, they exchanged glances.

"It's time."

I didn't have time to digest what had been said, as just then, a large meaty hand appeared, searching.

I squealed as it grabbed onto the corner of my shirt, pulling me off of Luke.

He struggled to keep me on, but my fingers slipped, and I was yanked off.

"PERCY!"

All stopped, scared out of their wits, and turned to stare at me as I struggled to break free.

The hand wrapped around my torso tightly, starting to squeeze the life out of me.

I could feel my strength fading, and as a last resort, I bit down, hard onto the hand.

The creature screamed and dropped me, and I plummeted down.

The ground cane too fast, I couldn't even scream.

But someone caught me.

The person stumbled backwards, and I saw the blue eyes and scar of Luke, tears running down his face.

"You're okay, you're okay."

He was chanting the two words, seemingly to reassure him more than me.

He set me down, but I didn't have time to feel relief, as the beast reached out once again, and it's hand wrapped tightly around my mother's neck.

"No!" I screamed, lunging at the bull-man, finally able to see its razor sharp horns-as if they were put into the world's best pencil sharpener.

I don't know how I did it, but time seemed to slow down, as if all that mattered was saving my mother.

I twisted mid air, and landed on the neck of the creature. I grasped the horns tightly, afraid that I would fall off.

I could hear the desperate cries of Luke and my father as they tried to convince me that I had to escape, but I didn't listen.

The creature began to buck around, and I held on tightly-too tightly.

SNAP

I flew off, and my head smacked against the floor.

I groan, and faintly see two blurry figures running towards me, and I weakly protest for them to stay away.

I faintly see my mother lying on the ground, my dad holding her head in his lap.

A mighty roar filled with pain fills my ears and I spring up, kneeling.

Out of instinct I thrust the solid object in my hand forward, holding onto it tight.

There's a cry, then golden dust flies down from the beast as it crumbles.

I stare at my hands, caked in blood and dust, and holding a horn-one of the creatures horns-crusted at the tip with blood.

Warm arms wrap around me and I'm filled with the feeling of safety, as I look up into sky blue eyes filled with concern.

His lips move-forming words-but none of which I hear.

My world slowly starts to fade into black as my vision begins to tunnel, and I embrace unconsciousness like an old friend.
