Chapter Twelve: Only You
I was so bored of classes that I nearly promised to become a hunter again for it to end. Thankfully the lunch bell rang before I made that stupid decision and I rushed out of class to meet Miyako outside her classroom.
She walked out when majority of her class had and greeted me with a smile. "Hey Ichi-kun, ready for lunch?" She asked as she shifted her bag to be more secure on her shoulder.
I started walking with her, my arm comfortably slugged around her shoulders. "Yeah. Class was so boring that I could eat an army." I leaned down to rest my chin on her shoulder to whisper in her ear. "Literally."
She lightly slapped my chest. "Hush up, you'll give yourself away, my plasma can only conceal you for so long." She glared, but I could see softness behind her warm eyes. "If you go wild it'll give us all away, silly."
I chuckled lowly in a husk tone in her ear before straightening myself back up and we stopped outside and sat under a tree. All her maids had 'mysteriously' dropped out of school, even though most of them had started just weeks ago. It has brought suspicions to arise in the school among those who knew the secrets of the school, but it was not so much suspicion where we'd be discovered.
"We have to be careful from here on out, Ichiru." Miyako said in a serious tone. She wasn't looking at me, but instead glaring at the grass by her stretched out feet. "Have you been careful with practice?"
I looked down at the pendent she had given to me three nights ago. The pendent that gifted it's user a power correlated with the symbol engraved into it. "I have, it's quite odd, but I think it suits me." I answered as I fiddled with it, but only seconds later I leaned closer to her ear once more. "And it also matches with you." Deciding to be a little cheeky, I gave the shell of her ear a quick flick with my tongue.
Miyako squealed in an adorable way and gave me a cold stare, attempting to shove me over in frustration. "I hate it when you do that, you big meanie." I laughed at her choice of childish words and attacked her in a hug just to annoy her a little more. "Get off you fatty!"
I pouted at her and rested my chin on her lower chest. "That's not a nice thing to call your husband." I tighter my grip around her waist.
"Paramour, not husband." She corrected, but I could see heat raise to her cheeks as they became flushed.
"Close enough, either way we're together for eternity." I shrugged and pulled her up and sat on the ground properly, but with Miyako trapped in my arms as I forced her to sit between my legs with her back against me. "So that makes me practically your husband." I muzzled my face into the nape of her neck and took in her smell.
A gentle scent that could calm even a raging bull, yet sharp enough to stop Zero when he's on a rampage. Well maybe not that last one... but close enough. Lavender... jasmine... and the crisp smell of a chilly winter night. "I love the way you smell..." I mumbled against her soft skin, causing her to shiver and lean back more into me.
She let out a shaky breath and closed her eyes. "Don't be stupid... I had fitness this morning, I smell like a wet dog." She muttered but didn't make any attempts to move.
"Can I kiss you?" I asked carefully, tightening my hold on her in a shy manner.
I looked up passed my bangs to see a cute rose colour dusting across her cheeks. "Wh-what are you saying? D-dummy..." She looked down and away from me to stare down as she brought her hands up to lay on top of mine. "Y-you're the only one w-who doesn't ha-ve to ask..." She pulled at the knit hat she wore down slightly as if it could hide her. In actuality it made her look adorable, especially when her round doe eyes of amber made glances up at me. She was like a cute little animal.
