Since childhood everyone was scared of us and so they treated my brother and I like outcasts.

At a young age, I learned of the pain associated with being an outcast.

I was walking Naruto, the younger twin, back home. We had some differences my eyes were red and his were blue. I had nine tails and fox ears, he didn't. He had whiskers and I didn't.

The villagers liked neither of us but never did I ever let them hurt my brother, he was the only thing I had left and nothing could take him away from me.

After classes in the ninja academy, I had gone shopping, with Naruto eating all our supplies, I had to go out often to buy some more food.

The villagers on the other hand decided today would be a bad day for me. They had armed themselves with kitchen knives, their weapon of choice, with no real way to defend myself without hurting them, I took all the blows and covered anything I could as I huddled in a small ball.

As the stabs kept coming my body slowly unrolled itself and when I was left completely defenceless they proceeded to kick and stomp on me.

The beating ended quickly, too quickly almost, it usually lasted hours when they felt generous, I could see a faint outline of the Hokage's weird red hat and an orange jumpsuit standing by.

"Naruto...." is the only I had the strength to say before everything went black.

Waking up to bright lights, I instinctively blinked multiple times to adjust.

I looked around to see my brother sleeping by me and the Hokage sitting in a nearby chair.

I thought I was dreaming the staff here never liked to see me here except for Shukina, a medic here at the hospital.

I tried to sit up but my entire stomach area started to hurt, almost burn, because of the pain radiating from my midsection, I laid back down then I turned my head to gently stroke my brother's hair.

"Noaru,  you're awake." said my little brother. " you were saved by Hokage gramps." He continued, I gave my brother an awkward hug, I was happy he was okay.

"Thank you for saving me Hokage-same." I said to the Hokage.

"Please save that, how many times have you been in this state?" He asked with the utmost concern.

"Ummm.....Too many times to count really." I responded simply.

"Why don't you fight back? I know that you must be capable of at least throwing a punch or two." He asked.

"First of all they would definitely retaliate by harming me further, and secondly I want to treat others the way I want to be treated, that is a promise I made myself, I always smile and say 'hi' even if the villagers would glare at me, call me names and try to kill me. They are just afraid of something I am not, so they are in some way innocent."

With my response the Hokage looked so conflicted with emotions, he looked sad, confused, angered and bewildered.

"Please accept some of my protection..." Before the Hokage continued any further I reasoned with him

"The villagers would find me anyway and most ninja don't appreciate our presence either, it's kind of futile, the discrimination towards my brother and I is too big."

"Naoru, the Hokage could move us to a house closer to the academy and where you buy our food, that way the villagers have less time to find and hurt you." Naruto suggested.

"That's asking a lot of him, Naruto." I replied.

"Consider it done." The Hokage affirmed.

"Thank you." I said softly
