The Road

Walking along without a road map

See the signs telling me where to go

But the truth is I don't really know

They all point in a different direction

Screaming at me to make a decision

To leave the rest for fatal revision

I can see where each road will begin

I can see where each path will end

And I know they all circle back again

Never really going anywhere

All yelling about fortune untold

Everyone clambering for a foothold

While I'm left out here in the cold

Struggling to decide, can't even choose a side, in my thoughts I hide

Watching the world go round, driving their streets into ground, moving at the speed of sound

It's out of control, yeah their out of control, and they don't want to be in control, can't see they're in control

Prepared for this all my life, trained to take these steps through strife, so that I may wield the knife

Taught to see the destination, believe in hopeful speculation, whether the tribulation

It's the only way, yeah it's the only way, and that's what they believe anyway, there's no other way

Everyone locked on their street, all complaining about their weary feet, hardly time to take a seat

Then count off in two's, and they all say I have to choose, but no matter which I'll always lose

There's no meaning, yeah there is no meaning, only their own meaning and they can't even see its meaning, not that they'd want to

There is nothing at the end, no place I haven't been, so I leave the beaten path, It is what I decide, that I don't decide, that there is no side, that I go nowhere, it doesn't matter where so long as it's somewhere.

As I walk I find my destination is the road I tread upon, going on without end, each step a place I've never been. And that is all I need.
