Lex POV
It was cold, and I am already use to the cold. Part of me is wondering why I left. I had a home, a pack, a mate! When I look at these men though, I understand. The one who sought me out is always ranting and raving mad, going on about colored rooms, queen and harlots, the death and rebirth of something inaudible. Others throw stones at him and some yell at his silence to come, but he never listens. It took him and I two days to ketch their sent, and then three more days to find them. They have camped themselves in an old abandoned warehouse and sense the day I came here they have either shown contempt, desire, or gratitude towards me. It has been a week since I got here and I have yet to see the leader of this pack of crazed wolves.
"Tick tock goes the clock. The mice run up the mice run down. Tick tock, he comes soon. The mice shall scatter and the dog shatter," he appeared out of nowhere and babbled in my face.
"Come now Mouse, leave her be." I look over to the man who spoke. Like the rest his voice was not human, because his human side was hidden sense his wolf emerged. His eyes were the same, a cold gold rimmed iris with large black orbs that made it look like a black hole. I have avoided looking into their eyes because I feared what might happen. I looked between the two. The one that brought me here, Mouse, and the one who scolded him. Then it dawned on me, I never got introduced, and I never heard their names.
"What's your name?" He turned turned towards me.
"What it matta to ya?" Another one spoke up. He was the thin wiry one. He looked madder then the one who ranted all day and all night. I was about to answer when a loud noise came from the other end of the building.
"The dog, the stray, the dog the stray. Shatter he may. Duck and cover, run and hide till it be over."
"Shut it Mouse. You know Cain hates your rambling," The one who scolded him before said. I watched the darkness as a figure started to come closer. He stopped half way here and I could see his body taught and strong under his clothes. In one hand he held a crossbow and in the other he held two large bucks.
"Hungry my dogs?" Each Black wolf quickly got up and walked over to him. Some growled at one another but they all stayed clear of mouse though. As the rest continued to walk towards the deer Mouse stopped and turned around.
"Party or not, come child, the green room is much better then the black." They all stopped in their tracks and looked between me and the man who I presumed to be the leader. I could feel my heart beet come faster and faster as his gaze from the dark corner of the room trail its way over to me.
"what's this now? Another lost pup?"
"Child upon a stool, perhaps. A woman-courage tested over much. She be the gold in the coals. The flickering light in the window at night. She be-"
"So you are what Mouse has been babbling about? Two months now, at least till his disappearing act, you were all he talked about. 'Upon the moon I fix'd my eye, All over the wide lea; With quickening pace my horse drew nigh. Those paths so dear to me.' He knew you were coming, and when you didn't come he left. It was quite lonely not hearing his poems and his insanity made sane."
"With quick pace I draw nigh. Her path be dear to me. To stand in beauty, to look upon, our hope returns," Mouse said as the man drew closer to me.
"Who are you that a black wolf would go out of his way to leave the protection of our pack? One did that many years ago, he went to find a boy, he never returned." As he came into the light I gasped. His skin was deep olive with scares littering his arms and neck. His face had one large scare running from the left eyebrow all the way and a curve to his upper lip, as if someone etched in a crescent moon into his face. His eye were his wolfs eyes but they held a hint of human as if he was still in there, the human part that is. He came closer to me even still and on instinct I backed away. He stopped and his eyes went ice cold.
"You fear me? What are you? Nothing but a child. A lonely child who will never see home again," He said, his voice now colder than I thought possible. He turned to go back to his meal when my courage came to me to speak.
"Wait!" I meant to say it softly, just to get his attention, but somehow it came out as a command. He stopped dead in his tracks. After a moment he turned around and his eyes no longer showed the light of human understanding, all it held now was a look that made her sorry for ever opening her mouth. With lighting fast movement He pinned me to the ground.
"No one commands me or my men. You are nothing, you are just a pathetic little cub looking for something that will never be found. So I suggest you get use to this life because you are never leaving." With that followed by a death glare he lifted himself off of my body and continued his walk towards the food. I laid there for a moment.
'This is going to be harder then we thought,' I rolled my eyes and held in a scoff. I wish I could control my Luna voice. This was going to make it so much harder now. I had to find a way to make them trust me, to believe that I was with them, that I didn't want to harm them and that I wasn't just some pub. I was the one to save them, but at this moment I was doing a pretty bad
