Practice is going pretty smoothly, the stage is nice and the acoustics are great as well. My drummer Adam likes it too. Adam and I go way back, freshman year of high school, we were in band together. "Sounds great Eliza, tonight's gonna be the best show yet" I smile, "Yeah it is, we'll close this tour with a bang". I then think back to the hug from earlier, and flush a little. Adam notices but doesn't ask any questions, I appreciate that. "2 more hours, and this whole place is going to be filled with people" I nod, slightly nervous but mostly excited. I hope Dan actually is here tonight, he's a cool dude.
15 minutes till the show, I am getting a little tense actually. I look out and the place is starting to fill with people. Taking a deep breath I assess myself in the mirror backstage. I'm wearing a black beanie, with blue jeans, a grey shirt and black boots. "Looking good, ready to rock this place?" This makes me chuckle. "You know it, LA won't know what hit it after tonight" we both laugh at this. "You guys are on in 5" 5 minutes, I'm ready.
"Welcome...Voices!" The while crowd cheers, and the place fills with sound, it's glorious. Adam and I step out and I feel so confident. I spot Dan out of the corner of my eye, and he's with Suzy?! Focus, don't get distracted. I take a deep breath then speak. "Hello Los Angeles, are you ready!" The whole crowd yells "yeah!" or "Hell yeah!". I start by singing my first song ever 'Where'd you go?'. I follow that by singing a few of my other popular songs, and finish it with a cover, a cover of 'Yellow' by Coldplay.
By the time I finish, and head backstage, I spot 3 people in my dressing room. "You did great! Good job" Adam pats me on the back. "Thanks" I then acknowledge Suzy and Dan. "That was awesome! You kicked ass girl" Oh Dan. "I wanted to surprise you, so I had Dan get me a ticket last minute, glad I came" I flushed, not now. "You guys are so sweet, I just wanted a give the fans what they wanted" that was the truth.
Later that evening, I walk with Suzy and Dan to the Grump space, why not chill a little, video games are fun.
