The Woman in White

The Woman in White is an Urban Legend from the United Kingdom. People will often mistake her for a hitchhiker, but she is far from that, she is bad news and you should consider yourself lucky if you never see her because once you do, there's no going back. She will stay with you forever.

There are actually a few versions of this legend, here they are!

First Version of "The Woman in White"

This version of the legend says that there was once a young woman by the name of Teresa Fildago who committed suicide on the side of a highway. Her husband, who is un-named, was looking for answers as to why Teresa ended her life for years' after, but didn't find any valuable information.

All was quiet for a while and after a few years of grieving her husband was finally able to move on with his life. Teresa wasn't happy that her husband was moving on as she wanted to be his main priority in life and death. As soon as her husband found another partner Teresa killed her and made her death look like suicide. She then appeared to her husband wearing a long white dress in mirrors everywhere, in the car, in the house and even in the reflection of a window.

Her husband couldn't take living in fear any longer and eventually committed suicide after about a year of Teresa's ghost appearing to him,

The Second Version of this legend

The second version of this legend says that there is a young woman wearing a long white dress that goes down to her ankles who appears to people in their cars as they drive along a certain road.

She appears to you as a real woman and will stop you and ask for help saying something like, her car broke down. If you go to help her she disappears but then she will appear to you in mirrors and windows until you die. If you don't stop and drive past her, it's said that she will then be seated in the back seat of your car and she will follow you around until you take her back to the highway you first encountered her on so she can continue her job on the side of the road.

Third Version

The last version of this legend I have heard and read about is that The Woman in White is a restless spirit looking for her children, murderer or long lost love. She will continue to appear to people on the side of the road until she gets what she wants. Only then is she able to move on into the afterlife.

Related to this Urban Legend, The legend of "Bloody Mary"

A very well-known legend that is highly related to The Woman in White is the legend of Bloody Mary. Bloody Mary is said to be the ghost of a young girl who can be summoned by anyone standing in front of a mirror in a dark, candle lit bathroom. Saying "Bloody Mary" three times will bring her to you. She will appear to you in the mirror and supposedly gouge your eyes out.

Both of these stories are obviously fake as they are known as legends, but I think they're pretty interesting since I love those kind of stories.
