Chapter 4
"Mom, what's for dinner?" I whined, walking down the stairs.
"Fish curry and rice, how's that?" my mom said.
If there's one thing I absolutely adore about my mother, it's that she makes a whole bunch of different cuisines. And it always turns out so well.
"Sure, that's cool," I said, and sat down at the table.
"Which movie?" she asked.
"Geek Charming!" I jumped up, and put the USB into the TV, selecting the movie. My mom brought the food out and we settled down to eat.

When I woke up, it was 10 in the morning. I stretched and sighed contentedly. After rolling around in bed for a bit, I got up and walked to the washroom, ready for a day of my 'Supernatural' marathon. Damn Jenson Ackles for being so darn smokin'.
As I went downstairs for breakfast, I heard my mom say bye and presumably cut the phone. When I actually saw her, she looked happier than Mike Ross when he shoved the fact that he had got something right in Harvey's face.
"Who was that?" I asked, as I served myself pancakes.
"Harriet, my best friend from high school and college. It turns out she lives quite close, so I invited her for dinner tonight," she said, clapping excitedly.
Well, there goes my 'Supernatural' marathon.
"That's nice," I commented, and started munching on my pancake.
"So you have to help me cook," she said.
"More like I have to cook," I said, with a mouth full of pancakes.
"So funny," she said sarcastically.
"It's true,"
My mom looked at me and decided not to say anything. I chuckled but then remembered that I had stuffed my mouth with pancakes so I shut up.
"You'll have to dress well," my mom said, pacing around the kitchen. "I already have something so I need to buy you something. Ooh, shopping trip!"
Sigh, my mom and I are so different.
I sighed and continued eating as she planned out the things she'd have to do out loud. Soon enough, she was heading out the door to presumably buy me something that I would never wear again after tonight.
"Alexis? Where are you?" my mom called as she closed the front door.
"In the kitchen, duh," I said.
She came in with shopping bags hanging off every inch of her arms.
So much for buying only for me, huh?
I sighed and got back to pouring the cake batter into a mold. I popped it into the oven and let it bake. Et voila, everything's good to go.
"You're done?" she asked happily.
"Yep," I said.
"Good, you should go get ready now,"
"Mom, I have an hour, that's way too much time. Besides, I have to make a call first,"
"Fine, fine. Make the call. I'll keep the clothes in your room," she said, and walked upstairs.
I went to the living room and called the number that Ian had given me yesterday during tutoring. That fated number that girls would kill for. After three rings, he picked up.
