It took a little bit, but I finally managed to properly remember the pattern and put it in. I accomplished this and only just got done celebrating  when I realized there was still more. I walked down the hall in between test-chambers, noticing a metal ring in the center before going through into the next room. The test had three big rooms; one had another display, one had another switch panel, and the last had the exit door and timer. I waited ten seconds  and saw the display flash. I went over to the switches and tried the pattern. It didn't work.I tried it again. It failed again. "You just entered the same pattern twice. " I nodded my head. "Why? " I stood there for a moment. "I don't know. " I turned towards the observation room at the back of the chamber. The young man looked back, his head tilted slightly to one side, puzzled. I turned back around and put in a different pattern, this one a lot more familiar than the last. I heard the door slide open. I stood there, shocked. How did I guess that? "You remembered that, didn't you? " I turned back to the man. I don't think so... " The man, wide-eyed, began to furiously take notes. I shrugged and walked to the door. This hall looked exactly the same as the other one. I began to walk down it. "Wait! " I jumped back, afraid of what I had just been told to do. What did I do to have to wait? Did I break their test? No, that can't be it. I then remembered why that pattern was so familiar; it was the same one from last time! Had I cheated? "Okay, go on! " Okay, now I'm more confused. I went on to the next chamber, expecting a repeat of the last two. I entered and stopped for a moment, admiring the sheer size of the room. It was still square, but this time it had some other stuff littered about it. Across the room was the exit door, as usual, but above that was a large block of ice. To my left was a button on the floor, and on my right there was another set of switches. "What you have to do here is enter the pattern from the last two tests into the switches and hit the button. " I put in the pattern, hit the button, and watched as the ice became water, fell down into a staircase formation up to the door, then froze again! "Head on through, it's just transmutation. " I looked up to the observation room to see the old man standing there. I quickly ran through the door, not wanting to infuriate the old man in front of the young man.
