The Joker's Partner

Chapter 4

    I lay there coughing up a little blood; just waiting for him to do something.

   "Why? She doesn't deserve to live. Imagine how many people she's killed!" He pushes down on me harder.

   I let out a groan but speak up, "Actually the amount of people isn't really that h--"

I let out a scream as he kicks forcefully then lifts me up and throws me off the roof.

  I must have had a shocked expression on my face because he just stood there and smirked. Just as I was about to close my eyes and wait to hit the ground Robin shoves him out of the way and dives down towards me. He grabs me and i gasp as he pulls me into him and we slam into a car.

   I let out a loud groan, "Jeez, next time you decide to save me lets make it a softer landing; shall we." There's some glass in my hair so I pick it out and slowly try to get up.

   Robin helps me up then shoves me against a wall, "You'd be smart not to move if you don't want to make this any harder for yourself." I just stare at him and he runs back into the building.

    There's a window next to me so I look through it and see J knocked out on the ground behind a couple of desks. Everyone else is still fighting so no one notices.

    I pace back and forth for a moment then painfully run inside. Batman and Robin have their backs turned to me so I quickly slide under a desk and ,crouched down, run to J. He's slowly breathing. There's a huge gash in his side where blood is rushing out from it. I try to pick him up but he's too heavy.

  "Damn it", I start cursing under my breath, not sure what to do. I look up and notice the doors closes are lined up toward the exit. If I can just drag him behind the desks we might be to get out of here.

   I get so close to the door. "Come on LunaChick. Stop what you're doing its not worth it."

   I let go of J and slowly stand with my hands up, after a moment I drop them. My men start circling us without Batman or Robin noticing. I start making hand signals behind my back telling them when to shoot.

   Batman starts talking, "Why are you helping him!? What's your part in all of this."

    I smirk, "Oh Bats, we just wanted to get you to come find us." I move my arm down across my back signaling for them to fire.

   The next couple of seconds go by quickly. Robin and Batman jump out of the way but I collapse to the ground. I let out a cry as a searing pain goes through my leg. Some one picks me up and starts running through the front door to our car. I could still hear shots going off so I didn't bother to see if anyone was following us.

   I'm placed in the back of J's car. When I look up I see Marcus staring down at me.

  "Sorry about that but I had to find a way to get you out quickly. Carrying you was the fastest option. I figured if they saw you shot then…-"

   "Just shut up and get us out of here!"

J is laid out onto of me. I run my hand through his hair then realize what I'm doing and stop. You're not falling for him Marisa.

    The men who weren't still fighting jumped into another car and followed behind us. The police pulled in right after we left. Marcus starts driving insanely fast. I'm having a hard time breathing but I don't notice. I use the last of my strength to hold onto J so he doesn't fall.

   The car's getting faster, "Marcus, What the hell are you doing!?"

   "Ending this shit."

We hit something and I grab tightly onto J. The car flips and I close my eyes. We hit the ground and I let out a scream as the roof sort of collapses into the car. I let J go and then rip my seat belt off. I hit the roof hard and let out a groan. I feel dizzy and can taste blood in my mouth. I start kicking at the door. It takes a moment but it finally falls off. Slowly and painfully I get out and then turn around and pull J out. My vision starts to get blurry. The last thing I see before I collapse is a couple off our men running towards us.
