"Boss?" Mackle walks into the room and sees the Joker shirtless taking his bandages off. He stops and awkwardly stands at the door.
Joker doesn't turn around, "What. Do. You. Want." He pulls off the rest off his bandages but doesn't turn around.
"…I uh… know you don't really- um… don't want to hear this but she- she did save your life. You were laying on the ground and well… she tried to get you out of there. When Mason flipped the car the only way you could have survived that was if she was holding onto you." Mackle runs a hand through his hair and waits for the Joker to reply. When he doesn't; Mackle sighs and walks out.
The Joker gets up and just stares at himself in the mirror. No face paint on, nothing to cover his face with. He studies the scratches and scars on his chest. One of them sticks out to him. One he hadn't noticed before. It looked like finger nails had dug into his skin. He ran his own fingers over it and looked away. He didn't want to believe someone actually cared about him enough to save his life.
When I wake up I find myself laying on a table downstairs. I had bandages around my stomach and going down my left leg leg. I was changed out of my original clothes to black soffe shorts (short shorts) and what looked like one of J's button down t-shirts. I was still wearing a bra so I didn't really care. As I got up I winced as a shock of pain jolted through my body.
"Oh good, you're awake." It was Mackle.
I didn't want to waste any time, "How long was I out?"
He shrugs, "About 3 hours."
"Is Mason-"
"Dead? Yes. By the looks of it; he died immediately after the impact."
I look up at him. There was a question on my mind that I really wanted to know the answer to. "Is- did the Joker make it…?"
He nods, "He's in his room. Here, let me help you." He takes my arm and lets me lean on him.
It hurts a little but I manage to get up, "…thanks."
I walk with a partial limp to J's room. The doors open so I knock on it once and then walk in, "J…?"
He's staring at himself in a mirror shirtless. He has a lot of scars across his body but I don't really look at them. I take a step closer.
"Stay. There." He looks at me through the mirror. He looks like he's about to cry.
I stop moving and stare at him, "Are-"
"Answer me this, why did you save me?"
The question throws me off for a moment. He just stands there and waits. "Well…um… I- you're my boss-"
"Partner…", He says it all most in a whisper. I look over at him almost questionably. I back up to leaves but I end up hitting a wall instead so I just lean against it awkwardly. He walks over and presses his body against mine.
I place my hands on his chest and look away, "J, I…-"
He presses his lips against mine and kisses me deeply. I let out a small gasp as he presses harder and places his hands on my hips. I let my hands run through his soft hair green hair. I wasn't sure why I was kissing him back; he killed my friends and stole me from my home… but he also made me stronger and smarter… no you have Jace you can't be doing this.
We brake apart and just stare at each other. I realize my hands are still entangled in his hair so I slowly let them drop.
He lets go of me, throws on a shirt and quickly walks out. I just stand there for a moment and then slowly walk to my room and sit on the floor. I don't know why the the floor and not my bed, because that's what I'm leaning against, but I feel more comfortable this way.
