chapter 3 "unknown pleasures"

PEOPLE are always vulnerable to the unknown, Alex being so anonymous, undiscovered.

Alex was an unknown pleasure to Miles.

But what makes him so unknown?

Well, his story was manufactured, not completely raw. He's a phony, he's a fake.

"A fraud, a snake!"

And because of that he's been left muted and looked down upon as a rude, narcissistic person.

And not to mention how heartbroken he's been left. He's still trying to clean up the shards of his glass heart that his former sweetheart had shattered.

She's the reason why he became baby blue.

Before he was just referred to as plain Alex, a boy who was extremely shy and friendly. But that boy is long gone and might never return. The moody parasite had taken over Alex's thoughts and feelings and views on things and actions and just everything.

He's weak and is in need of a person who can change him.

And they could be standing next to him at any given moment.

Alex feels like his missing something when he thinks about love. Maybe it's the the fucking void that lives where his heart should be.

He should've known what he was signing up for. She was just trouble from the start. Her words were scripted and she was cheap outside of school hours. You can never trust the good girls.

But enough of the past, he doesn't like to think about it all that much. Mainly because it hurts him to think of the way he used to love her.

Johanna.

What a liar.

Enough with it, you should be concerned about how Alex is thinking about love again.

He felt it's presence creeping up behind him whenever that kid Miles had sat next to him. It felt weird having someone sit next to him again. It's been so long that he actually forgot how it felt like to feel the person's warmth radiate off their bodies and hit his own.

That boy made him shiver and blush whenever he stared right back at Alex. He found it funny how stiff he made that boy, especially when he was just looking at him.

He should be used to it, people being scared to be around Alex, because they never know when Alex might do something that'll upset them. But for some reason it made him feel hurt.

He knew that Miles was a friendly kid. He would always hear his sweet laughter whenever somebody told him a joke. He was nice with everyone, not to mention how flirtatious he is.

Girl or not, he would flirt with them until they were mantiling or embarrassed that they were receiving compliments from the school flirt. But Alex is confused by his actions. Does he actually like them, or does he do it for fun?

Would he be joking if he flirted with Alex?

Wait, why does that even matter right now? Why does Alex suddenly care so much about a person he barely knows about? That boy never did anything for Alex to suddenly start thinking about him. He just simply sat next to him in class, but it opened up so many feelings that Alex has been trying to avoid for a very long time.

I'm pretty sure you can guess what.

All of this was just so confusing again, since he hasn't experienced having this feeling registered in his mind, in his "heart."

He let out a deep breath. He was currently sitting down on one of the seats in the very back row. He is in music class, and of course, nobody is sitting next to him. The entire back row is empty, but whenever people come in, they try their best to fit up front. They'll do anything to not sit next to him.

It pays to get here early. This classroom gets so full easily. It's because the students like to study and work on their pieces of music before class actually begins, so that they won't have to do that much work when needed.

Alex makes the classroom look so crowded. If he wasn't here and wasn't sitting in the back row, the entire classroom would look organized for a change. Since nobody will sit next to him anytime soon, it will just remain a clutter of bodies.

Miles came in late, and because of that there weren't any seats up front anymore. The five lonely cold seats were waiting for Miles to sit down. Alex was hopefully praying that he would sit right next to him, but you know that won't happen.

He became stiff again when the realization hit him that he had to sit in the back row. He sighed as he made his way to the back row as carefully sat down at the end of the row. Alex's hopes were instantly shot down.

He just ignored it and looked ahead of him, waiting for the teacher to start the bloody lesson already. He feels rejected and he just wants to go home already.

"Alright, class, settle down!" She said with a high perky voice. She was a soprano with a heavenly godsend voice, for once a girl with a voice that didn't sound annoyingly high in a singing matter. It sounded loud yet so soft and lofty whenever she sang. She had a beautiful tone as well.

"So, exciting news today. We're having another partner project!"

Partner projects? Alex hasn't done that in years, and I'm sure you can guess why. No explanation needed.

"You'll be paired up with another person, a person I'm choosing this time 'round, and you'll have to create an original song and perform it live.

"You'll have about 4 weeks to complete this project, so get on with it!" She ended her words with a quick smile, but quickly changed to a look of sympathy whenever she looked at Alex.

She is the only teacher who gave a damn about his presence. She notices how all of the students are being so mean to him all the time, so in return Alex is mean back. She can understand that, becoming moody whenever people treat you like actual shit.

And she also noticed how he was looking at Miles in deep thought today. She could tell that he wants to talk to him, but Miles, being another person who is scared of him, doesn't.

So she went to her clipboard with all of the names written down on a small piece of paper and erased Miles' name. He was originally supposed to be paired up with a girl named Taylor, a pretty young girl that seems to have a voice that perfectly matched with his. She will now be pairing up with another girl called Arielle.

She wrote down Miles' name down next to Alex's. She smiled to herself as she walked to the front of the classroom with clipboard in hand.

Then she began to read off the names.

"Mark, you'll be paired with Jack."

...

"Taylor with Arielle!"

"And Miles, you'll be paired with Alex."
