I stand at the entrance waiting for her. I can’t wait to hear all about her. I can’t wait to feel her touch again, smell her scent. There’s a huge crowd in front of me, and I think I’m spotting Leah amongst all of the other people.
“Leah?” I try to get her attention and I succeed. She looks at me with this disturbing expression on her face. What is this? I know she recognized me, but then I start to think about the doubt in her voice agreeing to go on a date with me. Maybe I should just give up? I haven’t felt like this before; so desperate, so needy of attention, so obsessed. And it’s driving me crazy, I might as well just put an end to this feeling I have. I feel like a big part of me has been taken away from me, and I can’t stop thinking that she is to blame. If I just end this crazy hunt for her, the part will be back.
“I’ll be right back!” She shouts and disappears. The hunt continues, I guess. Ten minutes passes by, and I’m starting to lose faith. I look up and her arrival bashes me; she’s wearing a long, white dress and her glittering eyes of many features rests on me, breaking me apart by each step she takes. Her body is petite, and she is nowhere near being overweight. She looks athletic, at the same time she has all the curves anyone could want: her breasts are big, and so is her butt. Her waist is skinny, and so are her legs and arms. A picture of perfection. Is it just a picture though? Everything around me seems to stand still, but starts up again when she smiles.
“How are ya?” She asks me, not noticing how I just measured her body up and down.
“Fine, thanks. What about you? You look beautiful.” Slow down, Harry. She is thinking about how to answer my mouthful, and I can see her blushing from the third part of my comment. Her southern slang didn’t even annoy me.
“I’m great, thank you.” We walk to my car, and I make sure to open the door for her. We agree to go with pizza, and we find a restaurant we both like. The big sign says Eureka and I chuckle; what an awkward name to give a pizza-place. Her big eyes glance my way, and I open the door for her. We sit down and order a pizza. I have to pick one because she’s so shy and caring. “I really don’t have an opinion, you can just get whatever you want. I like knowing that if my company isn’t too nice, at least the food will be.” She said and laughed nervously. I just smiled back, hiding my thoughts about her being the best company in the world.
“Your life story in five minutes.” I challenge her.
“My life story in five minutes would be impossible.” She giggles and continues: “I’ll just tell you about my life in general.” She’s finally opening up.
“I’m a typical straight A student, I have a full-ride scholarship. I’m majoring in Medicine and I want to become a doctor. I live with my father because I hate the thought of co-ed showers and parties.” She stops for a while. “I’m basically very boring!” she blurts out after a little while, fiddling with her fingers as she laughs a silent laughter.
“I don’t believe that for a second.” I say, trying to get more out of her. I had the vision of her being a perfect student from the start, so this wasn’t information I already knew. Our pizza arrives, but we don’t touch it yet.
“What do you do to have fun?” I say and the deep, golden eyes stare at me again, making my knees turn to mush. I’m glad I’m sitting down.
“Well.. I..I” I look at her with a humorous look and she acknowledges it.
“Come on, you can tell me! I won’t judge you, ms. Perfect!” I tease her.
“I like photography. I bring a camera wherever I go. I like how everything seems to fit together even though they are basically opposites; heaven and earth, darkness and light…” I’m astonished by the way her head works in a new way I never would have guessed. She looks away, being embarrassed for opening up.
"And I don't like it when people call me perfect, 'cause I'm far from it."
“I like this.” I say, confidently reaching for her hand under the table. Our hands meet again, and I feel my smile growing. She is so good, and I like the way I am able to get her to open up to me.
“I do too.” She admits, making my heart race. Her skin is so soft, so innocent as the rest of her being. Her phone vibrates and the screen reads “Dad”. Oh.
“Gotta go.” Not again, this is the second time. Then I remember the last time she had to go, and I want to relive it.
“Can I come with you?”
// Hiii. Did anyone get tickets today? I'm still trying to get floor seating..
