Chapter One: Small Town Boy & A Small Town Life Isn't Enough Anymore

CAROLINE’S POV
Tyler still had my arm, pulling me as we ran through the woods.

“Come on!” Tyler yelled, his voice deeper than it used to be.

“I am going as fast as I can in 6 inch heals!” I complained before stopping dead in my tracks which made Tyler do the same.

“What? Do you hear something?” Tyler said in a worried tone.

I walked closer to him & placed my hands on his shoulders “Tyler your paranoid.”

“You would be too, if Klaus vowed to kill you.” Tyler explained.

“No actually, I wouldn’t.” I mumbled.

“Yeah, because he loves you!” Tyler yelled.

“That’s not the point!” I screamed back at him.

“Then what is?” He asked, his eyes so full of rage.

“I’m sick of this, it’s the same routine every day, get up, run, got to sleep & I’m sick of it! For two years Tyler! Two years we have been running & has he come? No, he hasn’t he’s moved on with his life! You should do the same thing!” I screamed & by the time I was done I was almost out of breath.

“I should? I thought we were in this thing together?” He questioned.

“So did I, I want to be with you Tyler but I’m so sick of running I want an adventure this is boring.” I said sitting down against a tree behind me.

“But, we are going on an adventure.” He replied.

“No, where just circling Mystic Falls over & over again.” I spat back standing up again.

“Well, what do you want to do?” He asked placing a hand on my shoulder.

“I want a love that consumes me.” I muttered remembering what Klaus had said to me at graduation.

“What are you going on about?” Tyler asked, his voice so full of confusion.

“Small town boy, Isn’t enough for me” I whispered thinking of Klaus the entire time.

“Caroline?” Tyler asked slightly scared.

“I should have left to New Orleans with you.” I said as if he was in front of me.

Tyler stood in front of me & shook my shoulders, which instantly snapped me out of my vision.

“Are you okay?” He asked.

How could I put this without breaking his heart, how about, ‘I need Klaus he will show me everything life has to offer’ No that’s a little bit selfish.

“Hello?” Tyler said waving his hand in my face.

“Sorry Tyler.” I said.

“Why?” He replied.

“I need Klaus.” I began watching his eyes widen & his teeth clench together in anger.

“Before he left he promised if I left with him he would show me everything life has to offer me & he is an original he could protect me.” I said.

“No! You’re my girlfriend.” Tyler spat back grabbing my arm tightly.

“You want me to be happy!” I yelled back taking my arm back then slapping him hard across the face.

“Yes, of course, but he’s taken everything from me.” He replied still in shock.

“If you really want me to be happy let me make my own choices & not have them stripped like yours were by Klaus.” I whispered cupping his face.

“Exactly Klaus did this to me! And you’re just going to trust him!” He yelled throwing my hands away from him.

“Yeah but he would never hurt me!” I confirmed.

“No, you know what go ahead & do whatever the hell you want okay, just don’t come crying to me when he hurts you.” He said vamp-running away.

“Tyler!” I screamed but I couldn’t find him.

I pulled out my phone & dialed Klaus.

“Hello, Caroline?” He said, his voice full of uncertainty.

“Klaus thank god, we need to talk.” I began.

“About what exactly love, I’m in New Orleans.” He replied.

“Yeah about that I want you to pick me up, Tyler is a bustard & doesn’t care about me, but you do.” I blurted out.

“Are you feeling okay love?” he asked his voice bouncy.

“I’m better than okay, so get your ass over to Mystic Falls & let’s get the hell out of dodge together.” I demanded.

“I’ll be there tomorrow love.” He replied hanging up leaving a huge smile plastered across my face.
