It was a few days after his father's funeral. He died a few weeks before Halloween. William was sitting on his bed, looking at the Bible his father had left him. He threw it on the dresser in a mini-fit. Trying to get over the fact that his father died, he threw himself down on his bed and plugged his headphones into his phone.
He looked over to the Bible on his dresser and looked up to his ceiling, pretending to be looking at the sky. He tried being a Christian before, but it didn't workout for him. He didn't feel like he was doing much to help at all. He looked back at the Bible. He noticed something different about it from when he was a child. He sat up to get a closer look at it. The normal blue crucifix on it seemed to stand out in a way somehow. He felt the the Bible and noticed a shift in the cover of the Bible. He pinched the crucifix on the bible to reveal that it was a key! He picked up the crucifix key and examined it.
"This must open something." he muttered to himself. He looked around his room to find out what. He then realized his father must have left clues in his bible. He quickly opened the bible, looking for anything that could help him. He flipped to Genesis 3 and saw something that might help. "The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil" was circled. He tried to figure out what it meant. He thought back to his childhood. He and his father used to sit under a large tree where his father taught him right from wrong. That had to be it. What else could it be?
He ran out of his room past his mother. "Where are you going sweetie!" she called out to him.
"Just going to the park." he quickly replied, almost mixing up his words. As he panted to a stop at the giant oak tree at the park, he looked around for anything else his father might have left. Frantically searching for new clues, he spotted a paper stuck on the trunk of the tree out of the corner of his eye. He walked ever so slowly toward the paper. As he inched the piece of paper, the wind started to pick up, almost pushing him over. As he finally plucked the paper of the tree, his heart started to beat faster with anticipation. He read the writing on the paper.
"אתה לא לבד." It was Hebrew. He remembered he learned Hebrew from his father. It read: You are not alone.
That was it? Just some paper with some writing on it? He was about to crumple up and throw the paper when he was suddenly lifted off of his feet, but no one was picking him up. How was this possible?! He was carried into the air and no one seemed to notice! What was going on!?
