let me be your eyes darling,
for you have only
seen yourself
two times in your life.
once
while taking a picture
or two
or three.
looking at the image
to decide whether
you like it or not.
and twice
staring in
the mirror and
looking at your reflection
often analyzing
what you see.
but what a picture
or mirror
won't show you
is the way your eyes
light up when talking
about something you love
and you will never be
able to see
how beautiful
you look
when you really smile
when you're so happy
that all you can do
is flash those pretty teeth
and even words can't
do the moment justice.
and it is sort of sad
that you never
get to see these parts of you
in all their beauty and grace.
but I can promise you
that I will be here every day
to tell you what I see
and to be your eyes
when you can't see
the pretty things anymore.
