"You and Eliza been working on that jazz routine?"
Alexander and Lafayette walked down the sidewalk a few days later in their dance clothes, covered by sweatshirts and pants.
Alex nodded and looked at Lafayette.
"You been working on your solo?" He responded.
Lafayette snorted and shrugged.
"Did you not hear me groaning as I got out of bed this morning?" He laughed, "I have never been more sore!"
Alex laughed as well.
"I thought that was a dying cow or something." He laughed, Lafayette laughing harder.
"Okay, you." He rolled his eyes teasingly, "I guess that's just kinda what happens when your a dancer."
"Ah, words of wisdom from Laffy Taffy himself!" Alex laughed again.
Lafayette playfully bowed.
"What are you two up to out here?" Another voice sounded.
They both turned and their eyes fell on two young women who came right behind them in leotards and tights. One wore black shorts that were tight on her hips and the other wore a long, sheer white skirt.
"Don't you know it's against the rules to be this loud out here in the outskirts of the city?" The taller and darker one swung her hips playfully to emphasize her attitude.
"Oh. It's just the two of the three dance divas we know." Lafayette playfully rolled his eyes, "...ew..."
"Ah!" Eliza's jaw dropped and she playfully smacked his cheek, "At least we know how to dance well enough not to break a stereo!"
"That was last year!!!" Lafayette groaned.
"That also was an unnecessary 200 dollars we had to spend!" Angelica placed her hands on her hips, Alex snorting behind Lafayette, "on a competition year no less!!!"
Lafayette's cheeks flushed red and he looked away.
"Mon Dieu..." He breathed, trying not to seem as embarrassed as he felt, "Why don't we just leave it?? It was awhile ago!!!"
Eliza giggled and met Alexander's side.
"You got that lift from last week's practice?" She grinned.
"You better believe it." Alex chuckled, "I swear, it's almost like Washington is always trying to make us as sore as possible."
Angelica laughed slightly and the four of them walked in the direction of their academy. Sooner than they knew it, it was looming in the distance, only a few stories higher than the other buildings around it.
As they neared the building, they could hear music from within. A mix of violin and dubstep, the mix of tones and beats making Angelica pick up a rhythm that gave a skip to her step.
"And she's off!" Alex laughed, watching as she began to dance as she walked, "Our main dancing lady of the night!"
Angelica laughed. Eliza grinned.
"How can you do that??" She asked, "You dance every day! You help Washington reach the little kids on top of going to daily classes! Not to mention the extra practices you need to take care of!"
"It's simple, my dearest Eliza." Angelica laughed slightly, "I just dance through life! I have problems and worries, but they all melt away when I dance!"
"Oh, how profound!" Lafayette laughed.
"Well, aren't we in a pretty sassy mood, Mr. Frenchman?" Angelica shot him a look, giggling.
