pic of Chloe Blake to the side
"CHLOE HURRY UP!" My clearly annoyed sister Liz called from the door of the school newpaper office refusing to step on shiny black open toed pump in the door.
I rolled my amber eyes as I continued writing on my laptop the response to the latest Dear cupid letter. It was the typical 'I like this guy but how do I get his attention?' question but that didn't mean it mattered any less.
Dear Anonymous,
Don't stress to much to get his attention, pay attention to his attitude whenever your around him if he shows off even a tiny bit and then looks at you, you have nothing to worry about he's totally into you just being to shy. Also if you have him on facebook don't be afraid to message him, a simple hi can go a long way.
Remember to always be yourself and he's stupid not to like you.
Love
Cupid."CHLOE!" Liz whined "Please hurry the hell up I have a date at 7."
i checked my phone and scoffed "it's 4 in the afternoon Liz, you have 3 hours relax." I pack up my things and swinging my keys around my index finger I lead my hugely irratating cheerleading sister out of the school and towards the parking lot where our shared vaulswagen beatle awaited us. "You know if you got you G2, you could drive yourself right?" I ask.
Liz glared at me causing me to smirk, I couldn't help it. "Maybe if you were less like a geek you wouldn't be working overtime on a Thursday night at school and might actually have a date."
It was my turn to glare as we climbed into the car and I began driving back to the house "Dear Cupid's important to me Lizzie." I said purposley saying Lizzie to bug her and it worked she shot me another glare.
"Whatever." She mumbled as she began to examine her manicured finger, I sighed as I rounded a corner and began driving down our street as house after house past I let out a tiny groan when I realized mom's fioncee might be there planning their wedding.
Don't get me wrong I love my mom and she's been through something no mother should have to go through but I just didn't need a new dad. Not now, not ever.
Vance was... okay, not bad not amazing just okay.
Our real dad had walked out on us when Liz and I were 10 and our older brother Chad was 13, he left in the middle of the night leaving only a note that said.
Bye
No sorry, no I'll miss you, nothing he didn't acknowledge his 3 kids I had thought he loved. Obviously I was wrong. My mom was a wreck after that and I didn't blame her it wasn't fair for him to leave without notice in the dead of night so no one would see him leave. He never sent birthday cards or Christmas cards and all pictures of him in the house were gone. It was like he never existed.
Finally I pulled into our small suburban house and immediatly Liz stood up and sprinted into the house. I sighed grabbing my bag and following her suit locking the car as I walked away. As I entered the house I could hear my mom humming and singing along Taylor Swift's 'i knew you were trouble' and I stiffled a laugh, she was an amazing singer and that had been her dream but Taylor Swift was not her style of songs.
I walked into the kitchen to see her happily placing noodles into the boiling water. I was the only one in the family to take her vibrant red hair and I was happy, it was the one thing in appearance we shared and it made me feel special.
"Hey mama." I smiled as I plopped myself down on the island counter stool, "How was your day?"
"It was good, I'm an accountant honey...nothing special." She said smiling "Hows Dear Cupid going? Still popular?"
I nodded my red curly locks bobbing as I did "Yeah I get at least 5 each day, it's getting hard to keep up with but whatever I'm having fun with it. What's for dinner?"
"Spaghetti." Mom said smiling "Vance is coming at 5 too."
"okay." I say before excusing myself to go upstairs for homework.

"Your just being difficult." My all time best friend in the whole world Jade Briggs said the next day as we ate lunch "Vance is awesome."
I rolled my eyes, of course she would think that. Vance and her got along great, they shared the same weird humour which I'll admit was annoying but it was easier when Vance was over and Jade was too that way they could talk it up and I could just nod along.
"I'm not being difficult Jade, I don't like that guy. He just rubs me the wrong way. I don't like how he just walzed into my life taking over the house and the TV."
Jade laughs "Okay, okay honey."
I throw a popcorn at her which she catches with her mouth then smirks at me. I roll my eyes at her and slump in my chair as I watch the crowded tables around me.
High school stereostypes were definetly real at our school here in Rhode Island. The jocks and cheerleaders made perfect matches and pretty much ruled the school, the nerds who stuck in a group and ate lunch with our teachers were at the bottom of the social pyramid, Jade and I were just there at every social event we weren't nesasarilly nerds even though we were both on the honor roll and in advanced classes but we weren't popular either.
My eyes wandered over to a group of 4 guys walking down the aisles and they landed on the guy in front, he seemed to be their leader and he was a god. Why did he have to be to dang goodlooking?
"Take a picture sunshine." He said to me as he winked catching me off guard "It'll last longer."
I rolled my eyes though I could feel the heat rising to my cheeks "Please." I scoffed "You think I was looking at you? I've seen better trust me."
He laughs with his buddies but I can tell it's forced "Sure princess, just say it I'm incredibly attractive and you want to get with this."
I wrinkled my nose shaking my head "Definetly not." I stand up grabbing my bestie's arm and pulled her with me out of the cafeteria "Who was that?" I whisper as we leave.
Jade stares at me in shock "You don't know who that is?" She asks clearly shocked.
I shake my head confused "Should I?"
"That's Drew Simmons, the biggest badass Monroe High has ever known... how do you seriously not know?"
"Well I don't pay attention to that stuff Jade." I say rolling my amber eyes "Jeez you say one thing!"
Jade snorts as we walk together to our lockers "Well he's got his lineup of girls waiting for him babe so good luck trying to get with him like that--"
"Ew!" I shriek "I do not want to get with that!"
