Battle of the Breeds

We all stood still, in the beginning of cold rain lightly sprinkling down, staring at this other worldly creature, who before just a few seconds ago, we assumed to be the clumsy idiot butler to Madame Red.

Ciel glared down the Shinigami with a pronounced anger, and I felt the same anger as I watched my master clenching his small fists at his side. "Sebastian." He said, his gaze dark and hooded as he ripped off the bandage covering his eye to reveal a glowing marking scrolled on it. "Kill the Reaper." He uttered his command and Sebastian was at work right away with a quick "Yes, my Lord." He then went soaring up to the roof, just above the Reaper. I assumed to get a better attack.

"Sebastian! Let me help!" I shouted. That is when Grells attention turned to me. "Ah Maria! Do help! I want to see the lovely red in you too!" Grell exclaimed in a crazed haze. I looked to Sebastian, my brows furrowed in worry. When my eyes met Grells again, he was a lot closer, and growing closer still. The Shinigami was running at incredible speed towards me, and in response, I leaped up as high as I felt I could. That turned out to be much higher than anticipated, and I landed on the roof a few feet away from Sebastian. My eyes wide as ever, looked to Sebastian in shock, and met his smirking face in return. "Look after the Young Master. You seem capable enough." he said, his smirk growing to a cunning grin. I stared after him while he began engaging in battle with Grell.

"You ruined everything." A new voice rung out. My head whipped towards it and a gasp escaped my lips as I spotted Madame Red, a knife raised in her hand. She stood before Ciel, an ugly look of hatred deforming her lovely features. My Masters eyes were wide, and Id never seen him more vulnerable looking. His lips quivered and his hands shook, but still his eyes never broke their gaze of power and loathing for the world. Even before his Aunt, who was about to kill him.

Suddenly, Madam Reds arm swung down, and instinct kicked in. I ran to my Master, just before the knife down. It caught my shoulder blade as I wrapped Ciel in my arms. But the wound would have been far worse if not for Grell and his peculiar Death Scythe tearing through Madame Reds abdomen in one fluid motion.

Everything seemed to go silent and when I looked down at my Young Masters face, it was twisted in horror. And when I looked to see what he saw, mine did the same. There on the ground, in a pool of her own blood, lie the Masters Aunt. Through her wound, shot white swirls and twists of her cinematic record. As I watched her records, my heart ached for her.

"What a shame. I had such high hopes for you." Said Grell as he looked down on her lifeless body, and tore off her red jacket. He then proceeded to shroud himself in it. "You Bastard." I muttered as I watched in awe. Id hardly noticed that I said it at all. Grell looked to me with a twisted grin. "Dear, I hope those weren't your last words. Hurry, say something else quickly or else they will be!" He screamed as he dashed to me, Death Scythe in hand and aimed at my chest. Ciel stood right beside me, my hand resting on his back in a protective manor. I suspect he wouldn't have let me do this if he weren't so shaken up, but when he saw Grell, he snapped back into reality and screamed. "Sebastian!" As if there was some secret meaning to his name, Sebastian ran to my rescue, blocking the attempt at me, and losing his arm in the process. "Sebastian!" i cried.

He looked down at me, a hand pressed against the brick behind ciel and i, and his severed arm bled profusely, in long drips of crimson. I looked to his arm and panicked. "We can fix it we just need to put pressure on it." I spoke quickly trying to stay calm and trying to keep him calm, but when my eyes met his, he was as calm as ever. In fact, he was grinning as if id said something funny. I gasped at this, his face so close to mine that it made my heart beat incredibly fast.

Ciel broke this moment of silent conversation. "Sebastian enough playing around. Finish him." he said in a grumpy, exasperated tone. Sebastian looked at me a moment longer, before slowly pushing himself upright, off the brick. His eyes flashed fuchsia at the Shinigami. "Uh oh." Grell squeaked. "Oh Sebby, you know I was playing around!" He said backing up in a panic. But seeming to remember his weapon, he looked down it, and smiled, as if that was his plan all along, and made a move on Sebastian, who casually ripped off his jacket and jammed it into his mechanic Death Scythe, disarming Grell. His eyes grew even wider now, fear beginning to take over. He was a weak Shinigami when lacking in confidence.

As Sebastian stood over Grell, ready to end him, something began to creep up around us all. We all froze, and something inside me didn't feel the same. The air felt different. Why? An erie feeling had consumed us all. And then it all made sense. My hands dropped from Ciel and I rolled my eyes as I walked forward.

"What do you want? Go away while you still have a chance." I growled at the opening of the alley way just as a figure emerged from the shadows. "But my Dear, I didn't want to miss out on all the fun." The voice taunted, and we all saw the fallen angel, in all white, his lavender eyes in a cocky calm expression. Ash.

"Whats this... angel doing here?" Sebastian spat while glaring at Ash, Grell under his foot and gazing up as if he'd found his savior. "You can help me cant you?!" He said in a hopeful tone. "Hush" Ash replied, eye brows furrowed in annoyance. He walked to me, and stopped just before me. He scanned his surroundings, his eyes running across me, Ciel, the blood everywhere, Madame Reds cold corpse, and finally Grell and Sebastian, once more. "Ive come to speak to them." He said, and turned away from me, sauntering towards the brawling creatures.

"Step aside filthy demon, you have no part in this any longer." He said to Sebastian and squinted his eyes in a scrutinizing manor. He walked just beside him, almost as if to subtly move him aside, but Sebastian kept his ground. Grell, still on the cold stone, looked up at the two, watching their conversations.  Ciel arched a brow at the angel, Ash, as he watched.

"My master gave me an order. Im forbidden from the bonds of our contract to disobey." Sebastian's response began cooly, but ended dripping in acidic hatred, then watched his master who casually replaced the bandage over his eye containing the seal of their contract.

"This is above you and your petty little humans revenge now." He tilted his head and grinned.  "Step. Aside." Ash said in a condescending tone. Sebastian looked to his master, who sighed and nodded. He then removed his foot from Grell, and walked away to his master, and loyally stood beside him. I stood just in front of them. "What are you going to do?" I asked, craning my head to get a closer look at Grell, the wretch he is.

"That is none of your concern, now I suggest you all leave. I have work to be done." He said, gazing down at Grell, who shivered under his gaze. I looked to Sebastian, then my Master, my brows knitted in a frustration. Ciel looked to us. "Lets go. We will solve this for ourselves later." Ciel said and began to walk away, but not before turning around and glaring at the angel. He spoke through clenched teeth. "I will kill you for getting in the way." He said and watched as the Ash looked up and grinned, his pearly white teeth flashing. Ciel stood a moment longer and began to walk away, Sebastian and I following.

I hope you've made up your mind, Maria. Said the voice in my head. I looked back at Ash as he watched me go, black thoughts hidden under those lavender eyes and white lashes. I looked forward once more, my fists clenched. I  havent, I thought.
