"A party?" I say to Emma into the phone the next morning.

"A party," she confirms. "She's throwing it tomorrow, her parents are going outta town, as cliché as it sounds."

"And why didn't she just invite me?"

"I don't know, she doesn't like you..? But I'm inviting you, so you're going."

I sigh, and put the phone on speaker, and putting my hair in a messy bun at the top of my head and putting on very simple makeup.

"Emma, you know parties aren't really my scene," I sigh.

"Yeah, but Harlie and Josh want you to come too, and so does Alex."

"Alex wants me to come?" I ask. "Now, I know you're lying."

"..ok, maybe not Alex, but you have tooo," she whines.

"..it's tomorrow night, I wouldn't even know what to wear," I say, feeling my guard coming down.

"Ohh, you'll find something, you always do."

I groan. I wanna hangout with my friends, but I'm not sure if a night at Alex's house will turn out too good.

"Cooppeerr. C'mon," she whines.

"..fine," I sigh, giving in.

"YAAAYYY!"

I smile and playfully roll my eyes. "Ok, ok. I gotta get ready, I'll see you in a little."

"Ok, byee!"

I hang up the phone and grab a short sleeve, floral, pink romper and some black sandals, putting on makeup and spraying on perfume. I grab my bag and walk downstairs.

"I see you're definitely dressing like an eighteen year old now."

I smile at my mom. "I guess."

"Well, I like it, just make sure it doesn't get too outta hand."

"I won't," I assure her. "..andd..this girl, Alex is throwing a party tomorrow..could I maybe-"

"No," I hear as I turn. My older sister Kelsey says. She's in college now, but she sometimes hangs around the house.

"Kelsey," I groan.

"What, I know how bad high school parties can get, especially on a Saturday night."

"Mom," I sigh.

"I don't know, Kels. Cooper's pretty trustworthy."

"What, and I wasn't?" she asks, running a hand through her strawberry blonde hair.

"You weree..but..Cooper, are you sure you wanna go to a party?" mom asks me, changing the subject.

"Yeah, Emma wants me to go with her. Like you said, you can trust me," I smile.

"..where's this party at?"

"Peak's Point."

"Ahh, that rich kid neighborhood!" Kels says. "I vote no, NO, I vote hell no."

Mom rolls her eyes at her. "You can go."

I smile. "Thanks, guys. I'll see you after school," I walk outta the house, and down to school. I go in, and to my locker, grabbing my book and walking to Spanish.

"Coopeerr!"

I turn. "Heyy, Harlie."

"Ok, Alex's party, what are you wearing?"

"I have no idea, Emma just told me about it this morning. Alex doesn't even know I'll be there."

"Oh, please, the entire school is usually at her parties, she never knows or cares who shows up. And even if she did notice, she'll be too busy screwing some girl to do anything about it."
