Kit looked at me with a shocked face, a gaze. It was a stare as if what I said had given him back something. Something he lost, hope.
"But nevertheless, I hope you have a good meal Mr. Walker." I said with a smile.
"I will, thanks for that, you are a gal this place needs to learn from." With that said he left with his tray to find somewhere to eat.
-/a bit later\-
After my dinner shift was done the patients were given their usual free time before it was cut short due to the exorcism. I hadn't seen Sister Jude since I started my dinner shift. When dinner came to an end I offered to help clean dishes and the kitchen. So now that I finished I search for Sister Jude. I still had not asked her about being here during the exorcism.
"Sister, you know I would never bother you but I wish to speak to you before it all starts." I said to a frantic looking Sister Jude walking up the stairs to where the exorcism was being taken place.
"You know you can talk to me, but make it quick. I mustn't leave the Monsignor and the priest waiting." She told me.
"Yes, of course. I wanted to ask you something." I began. "The Monsignor asked of me to stay around in the time of the exorcism. For positive mentality, he believes that good minds should be present in times so dark. But I told him that I would ask you, for I trust your judgement."
"Sister, you must never take in vain the words of the Monsignor. Stay, but don't go inside of the room. It's small enough, it's gonna be filled with people. Stay around the area incase you are of need." She said to me, "Now let's go. Don't want to keep the Monsignor waiting."
"Of course, Sister." I said starting to walk up the stairs with her.
When we reached the hall, all that could be heard were the cries of the poor boy, shouting, begging to be let go. Then enters the room, Dr. Thredson, the Monsignor, the priest and Sister Jude.
As they were tying boy to the bed his cries were haunting us all. The begging turned into screams and moans of terror. I only went to the side of the door not daring to look inside. Speaking a soft prayer and holding back tears for the boy.
He didn't deserve them. No one who is here deserves it.
Suddenly Sister Jude walks out. The boy speaking in tongues, laughing evilly. The devil really had taken him. Sister Jude stared at him through the small window I feared to peer through.
"Sister Jude." I spoke softly trying to take her out of her trance. "What happened? Why are you out?"
"Let's go, we must accompany the Potters. Pray for them, with them." She tell me. I speak nothing but in my eyes she sees approval. Only to further the notion I nod and stared walking back down the stairs.
We sat beside the Potters and started our prayers. We went on for a while until the Monsignor came.
"Hail Mary, full of grace, blessed art Thou amongst women-" Sister Jude stops bringing me to halt my prayer. I look to her and see her looking up. I look back to meet with the Monsignor.
Mrs. Potter stands. "Our boy...." she says. "How's our boy?"
"He's fighting, very hard" The Monsignor replies "Sister Jude, will you join me? Sister Lenora, please stay with the Potters."
"Of course, Monsignor."They go up talking among themselves. I sit the Potters down. From down here all we could hear where the distant scream.
"Sister, please tell us our boy will be okay."
Mrs. Potter said.
