While I was royally freaking out, the other two men watched Mark. I looked at them, blinking. "How are ya not pissin' yer'selves?!" Dan chuckled and held up a hand to silence me. "Just give him a minuet." Mark sucked in a breath, turning his back to us. He began moving his hands in the air like he was working with a giant touch screen, fingers tracing imaginary lines and patterns (A/N: Twenty Internets to anyone who gets this reference from the movie/children's book). I blinked, eyebrow raised. "What the fook is he doin'?"
"Planning." Ken comments, arms crossed. "He does that ev'ry time?" I asked, strangely intruged by his actions. "You should've seen it when he was trying to figure out how to get from here to the doughnut store and back in his ten minuet break without hitting red lights. By the end of it, he only had five minutes and still managed to get back." Dan comments, hands in his pockets.I snorted. "Oh my God, fookin' weirdo."
"You forget, Jack, he's the smartest guy both here and in the field." Ken points out. "And that's what scares me." Dan adds. "That guy is one lab accident away from becoming a psychopath."
"Can he even hear us?" I asked, Mark's lack of reaction to our comments making me wonder. "Oh no, he completely zones out when he does that. The world just revolves around him and his big brain." Ken confirmed. As soon as he said that, Mark snapped, making us all jump as he turned back to us. "I've got it. As we all know, when the alarms sound, the entire building goes on complete lockdown, yes?" While Ken and Dan nodded, I just stared blankly. "And we all know that the override panel is in G-24--"
"Are you fucking insane?!" Dan hissed. Mark looked over to him. "What do you think?""Mark," Ken starts. "You do realize that is the one place in this building that has the most security, right?"
"Well of course I do. We've all been working here for two years, that's common sense."
"You also realize that if you, or any of us, are caught, we will be shot and killed, without second thought, yeah?" Mark frowned. "I'm giving you both ten seconds to formulate a better plan then mine." The room fell silent besides the screaming alarms. "That's what I thought." I raised my hand quietly, drawing everyone's attention towards me. "What m'I s'posed to tell my friends about this whole mess?" All three of them raised an eyebrow. "Friends?" Ken echoed. "Well yeah. No successful heist can be performed alone, after all."The three looked at each other, then started laughing softly. I shrunk back in my hoodie, blushing slightly. Oh yeah, I forgot. I was in a room with geniuses. They could probably rob the Swiss Bank on their own and get away with it. Mark ruffled my hair, grinning down at me. "Cute." I knew I should've taken that as an insult and been pissed off, but instead, I just blushed darker, shuffling my feet. "Now, Mark, don't scare the kid." Dan chuckled, watching us with crossed arms. The orangey-red haired man huffed. "He is though!" I thought I was going to nose bleed and pass out. This super model of a man thought I, -ordinary, scream at a camera for a living, Irish bean- Sean McLoughlin was cute. "C-can we go now?!" I squeak out. "I'd rather not have holes blown in'ta me like a fine Swiss cheese, if it's all the same 'ta ya." My brouge thickened with my embarrassment.
Ken nodded. "I agree with him. We should get moving. Maybe if we're lucky enough, the guards are spread out lookin' for us instead of bunched up in one spot." Mark nodded, then looked back down at me. I realized his hand was still on my head. Why did I feel so small compared to him? Was it because I had to look up slightly if I wanted to look him in the eye? Or was it because he was just built so broad? Whatever the reason, I felt tiny, almost shielded by him. "We'll get you out of here, Jack. Don't worry." His smile was genuine as he said this, and strangely, I believed him. I nodded, smiling back slightly. Yeah, we'll get out of here. No biggy. "Also," Dan chimed in, "I'd message your friends and tell them to book it while they can. When this building goes on lockdown, it's absolutely impossible to get in or out without the override. We don't need more people at risk being caught with us."
