Cassie's New Battle

Hurt, tears, heartbreak - 3

My entire body was shaking, it was worse then knowing he had lost all of his feelings for me, it was so bad I don't think I can handle it anymore. I took a deep breath, it heaved in and out of my chest. Everything was going to be worse from now on and what did I have to thank for it? Nothing...

I kept my eyes situated on the ground as I tried to slow the throbbing... That painful throbbing in my chest. This couldn't be happening! It's not like I meant to lie, I just fibbed! I didn't want Adam to know that I still loved him. That I still wanted him more than anything...

Suddenly I heard a noise and then a voice.

"Cassie?" I knew that voice all too well it was Faye and Jake. They walked down the staircase to where I was and that's all it took for them to completely understand. Faye being well, Faye gave me a sorrowful look, but Jake walked right up to me and gathered me into his strong arms. I wrapped my arms around his neck.

"H-he didn't believe me..." I began to blubber and Jake just squeezed my body tighter to his. My eyes took in Faye's expression as I rested my chin on Jake's shoulder. "I wish... That I never... Ever came here..." I could tell they were both shocked as I was practically dropped. I looked up at Jake in surprise.

"Why would you wish that? Just because that wannabe little prick broke your heart?!" I blinked in complete surprise. Where was all of this coming from? "Seriously Cassie! I swear you're so bli-" suddenly a hand covered his mouth. Faye looked at me and rolled her eyes.

"Honestly, Cassie. Ignore Jake he's just a big moron who is still infatuated with you and mad that you chose Adam over him." Faye turned her gaze towards Jake. "Isn't that true?" He said nothing and just glared at her. Faye grinned and turned back to me. "Aren't you working for Ethan in like thirty minutes?"

I narrowed my eyes and looked down at the time on my watch. My eyes few wide, "Yes! Oh my god! Thank you for reminding me, Faye! I have to go." I couldn't help but look at Jake; he looked so... Sad... I felt bad but knew I couldn't let that bother me right now. I had to go to work. I grabbed my back pack and rushed out of our lil... House. I ran towards the shop just in time to see Adam. The look that crossed his face almost made me want to fall to my knees and cry.

But I didn't. I walked right passed him and into the shop, smiling at Ethan.

"Cassie! How are you? Better than earlier I shall hope?" I gave him a smile.

"Yeah. I'm doing better. There's a party tonight, right? I should help clean up and decorate." Ethan looked relieved and I got to work.


By the time I was done decorating the sky had blackened and I was sitting at one of the booths, looking at a menu as my stomach decided to announce itself. I laughed heartedly to myself.

"Can I get you anything?"

I practically jumped out of my skin as I looked up to see Adam looking down at me. The look in his eyes I just couldn't really place... But it was nothing me, I looked away from him. Lifting a hand to brush my fingers through my hair. "No, you don't have to. I'm just waiting for the party to start."

I heard a sigh.

"Cassie this is stupid. I heard your stomach growl. I'm making you a cheese burger. Okay?" But his words didn't arouse kindness within my body... No, it aroused anger in me and I glared.

"No. I'm leaving." I stood up and slid out of the booth. Pushing past Adam and starting for the door until I heard another voice.

"Cassie, where are you going?"

I froze in my steps and turned my head towards the person of the voice. "Diana..." I whispered softly. I couldn't believe my eyes. She smiled and walked to me, hugging me.

"What did Adam do now?"

Just the way she card about me after everything we went through caused my heart to ache. I buried my face into her neck and cried. I cried so hard from all of the pain and loss I was feeling.

"Don't let the water works out now. We have a party to rule..." I couldn't help my laugh. It was time to stop bawling and get rocking!
