Ebele's POV

Zoey looked him in the eye and Malachi looked back. After a small while, Zoey looked away.

"You two just played with this women, right?" She asked.

"Yes." He answered.

"What did you do after?" She asked.

"After we played for a bit, she said that she needed to leave. We didn't stop her or ask her where she was going and said goodbye."

"Have you seen... Bell ever since." She asked.

"No we haven't." He answered.

"Okay..." she said as she put the drawing in the luggag." Malachi if you or Levin ever meet this women again or if she talks to you, please come and find me."

"Alright, Zoey." He said.

"Good, you can go back downstairs now." She said.

"You don't need any help?" He asked as he got off the bed.

"No, I think I'll be finished in an hour or so," she responded as she flashed a smile." But thank you for asking."

"Just ask if you need anything." He suggest with a smile.

"I should be telling you that," She said as she rubbed Malachi's head." Now get downstairs and start eating."

Malachi nodded and just before he left the room he gave Zoey a hug. Zoey hugged him back and they stayed like this for a bit. Zoey broke the hug and Malachi left the room.

I also left the room and followed Malachi downstairs. He was back at the table with Levin, who had egg yolk all over his mouth and Aphmau was over at the stove. She looked stressed out and I felt pity for her.

After a while, Zoey came down and finish making breakfast. Once Zoey finished and served everyone, Aphmau got up and said that she needed to leave.

"But you barely touched your food..." Zoey said.

"I'll be fine, Zoey." Aphmau said as she made her way to the door.

"Mamma, wait!" Levin yelled.

Aphmau looked back and Levin ran to her. He had a loaf of bread in his hand and gave it to Aphmau.

"Have this, mamma." He said as he hold out the loaf of bread.

Aphmau smiled at him and took the bread.

"Thank you Levin." She said as she pat his head.

He smiled and hugged Aphmau. Aphmau hugged him back and after a while, broke the hug. Before Aphamu left, she went over to Malachi and gave him a hug.

Then she went over to Zoey and gave her a hug. Once Aphmau had hugged everyone she told them to be safe today.

"The same goes to you." Zoey said.

Aphmau smiled and left the house. I looked at Malachi and mouthed I need to go. He nodded and I left Aphmau's house.

I'm guessing that she's heading towards the barn so I went there. When I got to the barn I went inside and found Aphmau at a table. She wasn't the only one there though.

There was Hayden, Ulrich, Gale and Kenmur from Meteli. Dante and Lawrence was there too. Hayden was the first to speak and explained why they have gathered.

He also explained that all at the table are equal and if there's any trouble between them, then Hayden and Aphmau will decide on what to do. Everyone agreed, then Kenmur spoke up.

"Wait, wasn't there another guard here in Phoenix Drop?" He asked as he looked around the table.

Hayden looked confused by this and Kenmur explained.

"Phoenix Drop is known for having three members of the Jury of Nine list serve as guards in their army. I only see two, where is the third? If he's on patrol he really should be here. Have a smaller ranked guard take his place in the meantime."

Aphmau looked uncomfortable and looked down a bit, until Dante spoke up.

"With all due respect Kenmur. Garroth is... not himself. Therefore we believe his pretense would serve more as a burden than a blessing."

Then Gale joined the conversation, saying that he felt sympathy for Garroth. Lawrence also joined in and said that Garroth will find a way to get through his problem.

"Now, let's move into why we're all gathering here." He said.

"Indeed." Hayden said.

Then Aphmau explained the reason everyone here has gathered and how the threat is growing. She also explained that she had gathered the Phoenix Alliance, hoping that they'll help them.

"So hopefully," she said." They'll be here before O'kasis decides to break down our walls completely. We can only hope for now."

Then she asked if what she was doing was good or bad.

"Good," Hayden answered." I personally can't wait to ring their necks for what they did in Meteli. It's one thing to attack an armed village, it's another when they see our fleet leaving and decide to invade. It's a coward move."

"It is, indeed." I said.

"Agreed, it's disgusting," Kenmur said." Lord Aphmau, do you have any plans to evacuate the children and as well as the villagers who aren't suited for combat?"

"Not yet, I'm sorry." She answered.

Hayden said that they should find a way to get the children and the villagers who can't fight away from Phoenix Drop.

"If it means by a boat then we're going to need a big one," he explained." The people of Meteli will be joining that ship as well."

"We understand," Laurence said." Phoenix Drop must be evacuated until the war is over. It's a shame things have come to this."

Then Kenmur added that it hasn't started but Meteli has fallen and if their allies home villages are not suffering from this. Date answered that there's nothing they could do and hope they can end the source here.

"I'd assume if our allies were under attack they would not be sending their armies here to help." He explained.

Then Kenmur asked how this all started and guessed that Nicole wasn't dead, but alive. Gale asked why Kenmur was more curious about Scaleswind instead of the situation right now.

"Scaleswind went to war with O'khasis because it was assumed an O'khasis guard killed Nice, the daughter of Scaleswind," Kenmur explained." Now she's been reported alive here. Her father went on a rampage."
