I checked my purple designer watch for the billionth time as I waited by the heavily guarded school gate, watching students pile in like ants to anthills. Where was Astra? It was already 8:10 and school started in 10 minutes. I really didn't care what Chrome had said, I was not going to get detention for this lady no matter how much we needed her.
I had just started to walk in, spotting my friends, when a thin wisp of electric green hair peeping out of a black hoodie caught my eye.
"Astra!" I called but she continued walking. "Astra, listen!" I ran up to her and placed my hand on her shoulder. She snapped behind, taking her headphones out looking at me as if I had just broken her out of a wondrous reverie.
"What?" she looked at me with her cold, sharp, grey eyes the same shade as my father's, making me regret this whole thing. "Are you gonna say something or just stand there staring at me?" Her eyes pierced into my soul and made my insides flutter in the memory of someone I too well knew.
"Um, Yeah, so I've heard you're great at pranks?"
"I might be. Whats it to you, richie?"
"I've also heard that... you don't have a great relationship with your parents..."
"Who told you that?" Her eyes widened, rage burning on her face.
"I need your help. I need to do someth-"
"I don't think so, sista."
"Look, the two of us are more alike than you think or either of us want."
"Doubtful."
"Look, I need you help, you're the only one who can do this. Come to the farm beyond the backyard of William's bakery. Bring no one."
"You know," she began, "this is the reason no one likes you. You're a stubborn, selfish little brat who doesn't think of anyone except yourself. You are a no good, bratty, rich, spoilt b-"
"Language!" I exclaimed.
We stood in silence for a few seconds, a brand new hatred in each of our eyes.
"Fine. Come, don't come, do what you like. But Chrome and I-"
"Chrome?" a small smile creeped on her face. "Chrome and... you?" her smile turned to an expression of disgust. I rolled my eyes and nodded.
"Well, I guess I'm in, then."
"Why the sudden change of heart?" I asked, anger beginning to boil over.
The bell rang and everyone started walking inside.
"Chrome's hot." Astra said and walked away.
Oh no she didn't.
