CALIX

When Cal was sad, he'd go to the hideout. Maybe order a drink or two. When Cal was happy, it was the same scenario. And when Cal was bored, he would then have a total legit excuse to go to the hideout. He'd drink, talk, entertain and maybe even dance. Spending some alone time was something he did not prefer, he always wanted to be included in everything, everywhere. He despised his so-called place near here with it's bare walls and no acquantainces and since this was still technically a hideout, he had the right to stay here as long as he wanted. ( Reading between the lines was something a fairy would do. Also mooching off the drinks, though he wasn't sure if that was just him or all of the fairies. ) Like today. The 'hideout' ( Did anyone even call it that anymore? ) was basically a bar-slash-pub-slash-hideout designed for all kinds of beings possessing abilities that the humankind found absurd. Kind of like a grand recreation room for society's 'recked beings. ( Ha. ) The bar was what you wanted it to be, built by a couple of wealthy elves to create some hospitality amongst different species. Kind of an unexpected gesture from an elf.

"That thought right there," Cal thought to himself. "Is the reason why people can't get rid of their stigmas, and you're a fairy, not like you have the right to stick to stigmas.."

The bar-slash-pub-slash-hideout was particularly empty tonight, a couple of elves chatting over at the tables ( Bard, Lorelei and Dain, names he was familiar with ) and a woman with golden eyes whom he did not know ( And not just golden /orbs/, her eyes were /fully/ gold, it looked stunningly creepy from afar, he was seriously considering talking to her, despite not having a wingman or anything. ) playing cards with the shapeshifter Reza. ( Another handsome person. But he was a shapeshifter, Calix doubted he had ever seen his true form anyways. And he wasn't considering staying here THAT long to really see what that looked like.) Calix was by the corner, sitting on a leather chair, reading.
He read the first page. Flipped it. Realized he had not /really/ read a single word so Cal flipped the page back, trying it again. He zoned out before even reaching the end of the page, closing the book with a huff afterwards. He placed the book back on the table, looking at the time. He'd have to head home soon. Nothing here to do here tonight, it was always quiet during Mondays and the idea of sleep sounded much more sweet at the moment. If today was Saturday or even Thursday, this place would be buzzing with friends and familiar faces but it looked more like the haunted lobby of an hotel right now. Placing his feet on the ground, he got up, walking past the elves to the exit. They were arguing quite loudly but Cal didn't pay any attention before hearing his own name.

"Hey Cal! Can you tell this idiot what a fairy is? Bard thinks that woman over there is a goddamn fairy, like an actual one." Dain called out, just as he was passing by their table. He turned around, looking at their flushed faces, Dain staring back at him, Bard ready to argue more with Dain and Lorelei staying quiet.

Calix looked back at the golden eyed woman, who was miraculously not aware of all the shouting going on, raising an eyebrow.

"What makes you think that Bard?" He asked, quietly, challenging. Lorelei stared back at him, cautioning him to not cause any trouble.

"That—thing has golden eyes, Cal, it freaks me out. I'm not saying I've seen a fairy before, Thank Mother Nature, but that woman's got something wrong I'm telling ya."

"She doesn't have fucking wings, fairies have wings, sheesh."

Cal shifted his balance from one foot to another.

"And you've got a sparkly face, Bard, she ain't accusing you of being evil."

Dain made a sound that came out as a soft "Ha.", taking another sip from his drink triumphantly.
