"Jesus Christ, I'm alone again. So what did you do those three days you were dead? 'Cause this problem is gonna last more than the weekend." Jesus Christ by Brand New

"Hanamaki, please tell me that you're kidding." Iwaizumi had a horrible headache once he woke up. He heard noises coming from the other side of the phone and a new voice, but a familiar one appeared.
"He's not kidding. Here, I'm going to put you on speaker. Please keep your swearing to a minimum but preferably, none at all. We are at a fine family cuisine establishment." Mattsun drawled out, all the while thwarting Maki's attempts to get his phone back.
"Just say that we're at a fucking family restaurant, you shit." He finally said after giving up.
"Watch your language, Maki," Mattsun playfully nudged Hanamaki. He only got a certain finger to the face. "Tsk, tsk."
Iwaizumi felt the need to grab another cigarette. But after yesterday, he decided not to. He knew that was not the reason that Daichi was crying but he felt like cheering him up for some strange reason. It was like they were opposites but exactly the same. Which was impossible. "Please focus. I want to get this matter straight. I don't need you two flirting right now."
"Yeah, yeah," Hanamaki said, "Sugawara cut his honeymoon short and is on his way to you."
"Yeah, he was also told that Daichi quit the police force and he called it intuition. He's been gone for two days." Mattsun sipped his drink before butting in.
Iwaizumi rubbed at his temple. Then he was comforted by the thought that Suga would never find them because they weren't in one set loacation. "It's not like he is going to find us." He voiced aloud.
"Yeah, no. Sugawara is Sugawara. He isn't one of the best for nothing," Mattsun interrupted Hanamaki before he could speak which greatly annoyed him. Mattsun enjoyed it.
"Fuck..."
"Language!"
"Mattsun," Hanamaki started.
"Whatever." And Iwaizumi hung up. As soon as he did, Daichi stepped out of the bathroom with only a waist around his towel.
"Your mother? The wife? Your girlfriend? Oh, perhaps a mistress?" Daichi grinned, running another towel through his wet hair.
"Daichi, please. As if I have time for any of that."
"Married to the job, huh? No time for the mother either."
"She's dead."
"Oh. I'm sorry."
"Don't be. I'm okay." Strangely, he didn't want Daichi to feel upset for him, so he looked over and smiled some. "Put on some clothes, we'll be heading out soon."
"Any idea where?"
"None at all."
"Sounds like a plan, then." Daichi rolled his eyes as Iwaizumi turned back around to get his things together. He unfurled the towel around his waist and the door opened, the knob hitting the drywall of the motel.
Iwaizumi quickly stood up, taking out a small handgun from seemingly nowhere while Daichi fumbled around with the towel and clumsy fingers made their way to his bed underneath the pillow and a gun similar to Iwaizumi's was in his hands.
Within those seconds, a person appeared at the door.
Iwaizumi and Daichi were at different stages of breathing when it came to said person. Iwaizumi was drowning and further still. Daichi got a breath of fresh air, a lungful before he would have to go back under.
But nonetheless, they both breathed the same name, "Suga."
Suga grinned, "I caught you."
Iwaizumi lowered his gun and Daichi followed suit. That was when Sugawara made his way to them, smiling the most angelic smile. Only to whack them with his I-care-for-you-but-you-idiot signature hit. Iwaizumi on his head and Daichi in the stomach. If he was being honest, both were hard. Hard-headed Iwaizumi and Daichi was buff and built like a steady rock with a bunch of softness to him.
He had only a towel around him and it was falling off his hips, lowering each moment. "Ah, Daichi..." He pointed down and Daichi followed to where he was pointing, quickly tightening it once more. He grabbed a change of clothes, nodded and ran back into the bathroom.
Suga smiled with fondness and Iwaizumi watched. The door clicked, signialing that he locked it and Suga turned to Iwaizumi who could only still stare at him.
"Hajime." Suga only said his name and Iwaizumi couldn't look anymore. "Hajime," he repeated. "Why did you bring him along. It's not safe for him."
In response he only laughed which caused Suga to raise an eyebrow. "And the police force is?" He whipped to face him.
"Better than what we do. It's a respectable occupation."
"Like there isn't corruption in the force."
"Hajime, stop being complicated."
"Koushi, stop treating him like a child."
The two stared, not willing to look away as it would mean that the other would win the match of wits.
"I hope you know that locking and shutting doors doesn't make them soundproof." Daichi was behind the door after quickly changing, not wanting to open it as he heard the two arguing. About him. Maybe something else but it was not said. It didn't have to be.
He opened the door and Iwaizumi was looking at him while Sugawara took interest in the wall on the other side. One where he didn't have to look at Daichi.
"Daichi," he heard Iwaizumi's gruff voice, "let's go."
Daichi looked at Sugawara and Sugawara looked at Iwaizumi with a scowl. Ready to scold. Before he could, Daichi responded, "Just let me get my things together."
"Dai-" Sugawara finally looked at him and Daichi interrupted him. For the first time, disagreeing.
"I'm going with Iwaizumi. We're going to find Oikawa. It's been only four days since we've been out. We will find him."
"Yeah, how long are you going to keep this up for."
"As long as it takes." Both Iwaizumi and Daichi said this. It took Sugawara some time to process.
Iwaizumi seemed the same. Just more intense and focused. Daichi was different. Maybe he wasn't as much as a soft-hearted fool as He thought him to be.
"Normally," he began, "it takes you," he pointed to Iwaizumi, "no less than four days. It is the fourth day today."
"I'm aware of it."
"And I'm helping."
Daichi grinned widely at Sugawara. Sugawara beamed back.
That was when Iwaizumi watched the interaction between the two. He realized that Daichi looked at Sugawara the same way he did. With some love and some pain.
That was their connection.
