~ Jakob's POV ~

Today is Sunday or adoption day. Or at least for some people here. Every week families all over L.A come and look for a child to adopt. I've never been chosen. This day always makes me feel bad. The only thing I like about this day is observing. I enjoy looking at the people walking in and out, and figuring out if they seem like nice people. I remember this one couple that came in. They seemed sad about something. I could just tell by looking in their eyes, but they adopted someone. A little girl named Lexi. I miss her because I acted as an older brother towards her, and so did Trevor.  She would hold onto us when there were thunder storms and I would help her with her homework. She was so sweet and gentle and small, I didn't want to loose her. But I did, but I know she's happy with her family right now.

Okay. Back to the chase. Today is just another day besides the whole adoption thing. I wake up and get ready and plan a casual outfit. I take a quick shower, get dressed and head over to Chloe's room. She already up doing what she always does. Writing. She fantastic too. Her stories and poems have a story behind it that only some can relate. I relate too. All of her stories can easily make you cry because of all the tragedies. I like the theme, though it's depressing, the whole plot is just the most interesting thing I've read.

I walk in and greet her. "Heyo mayo," I say. I sit next to her on the sofa and look at what she's writing.

"Did you just call me mayo?" She asks looking up at me because she is shorter than me. She smiles at me, and I smile too, showing my braces. My ugly braces with my ugly teeth. I've learned to ignore it, but I'm still self conscious about that kind of stuff.

"I call everybody mayo, peaches," I said. She always giggles when I call her peaches, but then again, I call everybody everything.

"So what are you writing about?" I ask. Chloe writes different stories every week. It's become a normal pattern. She also has different types of tragic accidents that are so interesting! I mean killing yourself, the story of a sibling dying, description of an abnormal mental illness. They are just interesting to me!

"Just a new story. It's about a guy who isn't excepted by his family when he comes out as pansexual and tell him that he is a disgrace. Then he slowly kills himself and when he's finally dead, the ghosts of the dead ones he loved the most talks him, in what he can't figure out is heaven or hell," She explains.

If you couldn't tell, her books are creepy, fictitious, "mental", but they all show great meaning, and they can relate to someone's life.

"Good topic. I like it already," I said. "But we need to go to breakfast," I said getting up.

Chloe closes her book and frowns. "But the food is disgusting,"

"Who said we're having breakfast here?" I said beginning to grin. Chloe got a questioned look on her face, but then had a slap in he face of realization.

Chloe doesn't like disobeying rules because she fears of getting in trouble. I understand where she's coming from, but how could you live in a life without mischief?

"I am not getting in trouble. I prefer to just sit here and write, I mean, I don't have to eat," She said opening her book again. "Plus, you can't leave because it's adoption day. They'll notice if you're gone." Chloe said continuing to write.

I roll  my eyes. "Fine, but I'm getting some In-N-Out for dinner." I said.

"Well, in the mean time, we still need to meet everyone in the mess hall. The people will start coming in an hour." Chloe said not looking up from her book. Man, we are such opposites sometimes.

~Skips time a tad bit~

Trevor and I are walking down to the mess hall to meet up with all caretakers and shit. They are pretty big jerks sometimes. I only like one of them, Derek. Derek is cool. He is the person in charge of the boys, which is awesome. He taught me how to skateboard and introduced me to Black Veil Brides, which is sick! To me, they are the definition of hardcore.

I sit down in the mess hall with a glass of water in my hand next to Derek. "Heyo." I greet him.

"Hey. Are you ready for today?" He asks, like he always does.

"I never am," I responded. "But one day I'll leave this place. Just not today."

"Well, in a about 20 minutes, hundreds of people will come here and who knows? Maybe one family will take you in." Derek said with such hope.

"Whatever you say," I said. We get up, and I follow him to the lobby area. Well, it's sort of a lobby. It's more of a room that we all have to hangout at when it's adoption day. It's also the area people walk in and randomly talk to us, looking for the "perfect" person to adopt.

Trevor, Chloe and I are sitting on one of the sofas talking and before I know it, people are arriving. Most people kind of stay away from me and Trevor because we actually look like troublemakers and I guess nobody wants that.

Many people walk in and greet Chloe because she looks sweet, but nobody has taken her either. Chloe finally decides to get up and get some water. On her way, a couple stopped her and started a conversation. I couldn't hear from all the voices around me, but they were smiling. That isn't good.

I keep watching with Trevor and before I know it, they brought her to the adopting room. They're taking her away from me! Ugh, this is why I hate this day.

More time goes by, and more anxiety builds up in me. I finally see Chloe walking out of the room smiling. She walks over to me and smiles bigger than I've ever seen her smile. "They adopted me!" She says with such excitement.

I get up and hug her tightly. I have tears in my eyes because she's leaving, but she seems so happy. "That's great." I said still holding her in the hug.

I finally let go and we are both in tears when we look each other in the eyes. Trevor stands up and hugs Chloe. "Have fun." He says crying too. Chloe smiles and walks to go pack her bags.

Trevor hugs me. Him being my best friend, he knows how I feel. And I feel like garbage without Chloe.
