The Ranch

Jake POV 

Its been about a month since Ellie and I did the deed, and it has been great. Its not even that we've been doing it a lot it just feels like there's nothing left to hide from her and i love it.  I talked to Tommy and i have a little surprise for Ellie. I even got Joel's blessing. Tommy said that he's going to start wiring power to the ranch, and i went out on a supply run with Joel and i talked to him and Ellie and I moving in together at the ranch. But its going to be a couple of weeks because i have to organize a electrified fence around the ranch, and i have to find farming equipment so i can plant crops, it was one of Tommy's conditions to running the electric there. I also have to start up water pumps so the ranch has running water. I plan on also finding some of the wild dogs and training them, i found a couple books, to protect the ranch and to also just be pets. I have so many things planned. 

Ellie POV

Jake said he has something really big planned for my 18th birthday. It's so weird it feels like just yesterday i was in the mall with Riley. My birthday is in like 3 weeks and Jake said his surprise should be done by then. I don't know what to expect, I'm not scared though.

~3 weeks later 

Jake POV

It's the day before Ellie's birthday and i have the fence set up, water pumping, 4 fields plowed and planted, 6 dogs trained with the help of Joel and Tommy and a dog trainer from before named Jeff. The whole ranch is powered and i have the angel knives arcade game that she played before she was bit. This one actually works. I cant wait for tomorrow.

Jake POV

I'm about to go pick Ellie up and i couldn't be more excited. I knock on her door and as soon as she opens it she hugs me.

"Happy birthday love. Let's go so you can see your surprise."

i grab her hand and we start towards the horse. The ride to the ranch has never felt so long before. But we get there and when we do Ellie notices the fence. 

"Whats up with the fence."

"Don't worry about it, it's just for some safety."

once we get off the horse i put my hand over her eyes then open the door and lead her to the living room where the Angel Knives game is.

"You ready."

She nods so i remove my hand. When she opens them her eyes get so big, i tell her that i have more and i lead her upstairs to where i have the dogs and when i open it her mouth drops. All the dogs run to her and begin kissing her and she pets all of them. I lead her to our room and turn on the TV, that has various game consoles and a dvd player with movies and games all over the book shelves. Then i look at her.

"Babe i did all of this so we can move in with each other. I have running water, crops, electricity, and those dogs all so we can stay here. Do you want to?"

Her eyes are welled up with tears and she nods and throws herself into my arms and begins to kiss me.
